The percentage of those fully-vaccinated has beat out Singapore, Brunei and South Korea by 1%. And, it has beat out Japan and Malaysia by 2%. The same website has said that Thailand and Vietnam had immunised 61% and 60% respectively. Indonesia and Laos were the lowest ranked at 44% each. Globally, Cambodia ranks number 5, which […]

Well done Cambodia

Shame on you Prayut & Co...

90% Sinovac and Sinopharm, for the masses.

10% Astra Zeneca, for the ruling party and senior military.

Mandatory vaccinations down to 3 years old.

Would you be happy with that, @Griff1315?

More to the point, would Thailand?

April and May’s lockdowns saw restrictions that cut off food supplies for tens of thousands of garment workers, market vendors, and other citizens that were residents of Covid-19 “red zones.”

Yep, that'll fix that covid problem, starvation, a new angle on "other health issues resulting in demise".

Wonder how many died from other health issues then?

Absolutely, @palooka.

It's far from the all-singing success story it's painted as here.

I can understand the mistrust of TH gov stats. I just don't understand the willingness by some not to apply the same level of mistrust to Cambodia of all places.

This is the country where the PM claims to have accumulated a $300 mill fortune by wise investment using only his monthly salary of $1100 per month. Funnily enough, this was the same explanation for Ferdinand Marcos acquisition of a $6 BN fortune while Pres of Phils, and on an identical salary too.

This is a country to which the UK donated £7 mill's worth of Mosquito nets. When they initially tried to so so, they were met with a demand for a 15% import duty. The UK said, "We're not paying it. We'll take the nets back".

This then led to Cam relenting and accepting the nets. The nets were never even unpacked. They were sold onto Myanmar, such is the venality of Cam when it comes to looking after their own.

Shocking story.

You just wonder what we will learn years from now, when others in power may discover things about these Covid years...

For the people of Cambodia, I wish it was sooner, rather than later.

Spot on, @JohninDubin except for underestimating how much Hun Sen is worth after 40 years in power by a factor of at least ten -  pretty much  everything in Cambodia that he hasn't sold to China belongs to him and his family.

It's not just failing to apply the "same level of mistrust", though, but across the board.

90% of the vaccines in Cambodia have been Sinovac and Sinopharm (mainly Sinovac), while the 10% Astra Zeneca went to the military and the government.

... and Thailand should emulate that??? 😠

Off topic post removed. The topic here is “Cambodia leads Asia for highest percentage of fully-vaccinated population”. Unless I’m mistaken, Western Australia is not located in Cambodia.

Let’s stay on topic folks.

The percentage figures can be misleading. What age range does that include in any of these stats quoted? The population over 18?, 21?, 12?, 5?.....

In this case the percentage figures are as stated, the full 'population'.

As Cambodia vaccinates down to 3 years old and they're the only country to do so, obviously that affects the figures as more are eligible to be vaccinated in Cambodia than anywhere else - particularly where "eligible" means mandated.
