News Forum - Smoking cannabis recreationally is still illegal, warns Department of Public Health
They do this so the police can still do their shakedowns and extortion of poor smokers. I witnessed such an event the other day, some poor tourist had a joint in his pocket after leaving a reggae bar. Plainclothes cops nabbed him at his private residential property with no warrant when he arrived home, and forcibly searched him. They said he had 2 choices, pay a huge fine about 2,000 euros or they will arrest and deport him. Seeing as he had pets to take care of he had no other option but to sign some document in Thai with no translator and pay up immediately. Who doesn't want 2,000 euros for an hour's "work"? Disgusting. edit to add, this whole Pluk Gan app that the public has to use to grow a plant is sketchy as hell. I am 100% sure the local cops will use this list to bust and bribe people quietly growing a plant at home. Like the above incident, no matter what the law says when you are being threatened by dirty cops with being immediately deported and blacklisted you will have to comply. -

News Forum - Governor to drain the swamp with Bangkok’s criminal fraternity
I would feel sorry for humanity if your post was indicative of the modern world’s attitude towards rehabilitation and care of prisoners. Thankfully in developed countries it is not. Norway has been criticized for it’s seemingly easy treatment of inmates. Not coincidentally they also have one of the lowest rates of recidivism in the world. Apart from corporal punishment, what is the worst punishment that can be inflicted on a prisoner - solitary isolation. How does the US “persuade” terrorists to spill the beans? Free oral irrigation and solitary isolation. Put down your bull whip for a moment, give your chain-gang a 10 minute break and read the following. You might even learn why your archaic thinking towards incarceration does more harm than good. https://digitalcommons.coastal.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1032&context=bridges -

News Forum - Travellers will still have to wear face masks post-endemic phase in Thailand
Didn’t seem like it. He was alone and lining up to check in. Agreed, not his place to bellow instructions to anyone. Everyone seems to have their own policy of when and where they mask up (if at all). If I’m on a crowded train and some dude is unmasked and I’m wearing one, I don’t care. Likewise, when I see a couple kayaking 50 meters from the sea shore with their masks on, whatever. Amusing perhaps, but it’s their personal choice. -

It's not FREE. The state pays to incarcerate them and also provides a meagre income for such work, paid upon release. -
