Is anyone following the ongoing MLB play-offs? With the Angels missing out, most fans here in Japan in for Sawamura’s Red Sox.

Which team’s going to take it out?

I absolute love the baseball playoffs

I'm from Boston so obvious a Red Sox fan

But I watch every game

Rays are so tough

But I think Giants or Dodgers win it all

We get all the games live in Japan, but when the Sox play, you see more of the bullpen than the old-field action. All about Sawamura.

The Rays look strong too, pity the Angels didn’t make it. I don’t have a favorite team per se  I just follow the Japanese contingent, which in these play-offs is a contingent of 1 🤣

Sox always seem to have a Japanese pitcher over the last 15 years or so

So they seem to have a big following in Japan

As well as Korea but not as big as Japan

I’d say the Mariners and the Yankees would be the most popular teams here, Sox and Angels well-supported too.

Where do you live in Japan?

I've been to the Tokyo Dome to watch a game

And I've been to Yokohama to watch soccer

My boss's niece is a big karate star in Japan, or well known, and she was married to one of the soccer players

So that was an awesome experience going with her in Yokohama

I’m in Osaka, but I’ve only been to games at Koshien Stadium to see the Hanshin Tigers, 40 minutes or so away.

There’s another NPB team closer to where I live (Orix Buffaloes) but they don’t have a lot of support.

What did you think of the stadium atmosphere in Japan?

The Tokyo Dome was awesome, well the atmosphere

The Dome, itself, is showing it's age

But it was really fun

It was only a preseason game but still very lively

The soccer match at Yokohama was ok

Small field

But we sort of had the VIP access, went on the field

So that was really cool

I loved Japan

Only been to Tokyo twice briefly

But one day I want to do a proper trip

My wife(Thai) has a good Japanese friend from Osaka she met here in Vancouver

So hopefully one day we go visit her

Ball games in Japan are great… singing, drums, chants, streamers in the air, beer delivered to your seat, love it.

I’ve been to football games too, it’s not quite the same, although the World Cup back in 2002 was absolutely brilliant here.

If you do get to Osaka, drop me a line @Marc26👍🏻

Red Sox were down 5-2 after 1st inning

My wife knows no way I am going out if Red Sox are on

So I told her we could go to dinner

I recorded it to watch later

Stayed off my phone

Sox won 14-6  😀

Four teams left standing: Astros, Braves, Red Sox and the Dodgers.

Giants, Brewers, Rays gone!

Dodgers have to be favorites now but go the Red Sox!

That game killed the Sox last night

You can't give back that game to Houston

Houck laid that ball right in Altuve's sweet spot, I knew it was gonna get jacked as soon as it left his hand

Early start today, sucks

I like watching MLB playoffs at night

I have not watched or listened to a single pitch since MLB went woke.  When businesses particularly entertainment businesses forget their primary purpose and start injecting politics or social issues into their product, they do so at their own peril.  Alienating any group of consumers is not only bad business but it breaches their fiduciary responsibility to act in the best interests of the company rather than make it a platform for their personal opinions.

Unfortunately the Giants are out on a bad last call. So as for the Dodgers and the Braves I will be so happy if the Dodgers eat dirt as that is my rivalry and even the last game I was at in SF a few years ago as the Dodgers came to town. Fun game and it was the Free give away day of bobble heads and Willie Mays was the bobble head.

As for anything after that I am indifferent, but it might be interesting if it was the Astros and Braves.

Big win for the Sox, two grand slams from Martinez and Devers, holy smokes! First time ever in a post season game, I think.

Series 1-1, next three games at Fenway Park, the Sox are in the box seat now.

Some really bad calls behind the plate

Kris Bryant did not see a strike in his at bat and was called out on strikes

Then the checked swing call

Brutal

Yeah unreal

Makes me almost more mad they gave away Game 1

Houston is so good, we could be up 2-0

The Dodgers would be my last choice of the four as well. I’m all in for the Sox, hoping Sawamura can make his mark at some point.

The Braves haven’t won a World Series for a while, so Sox vs. Braves would be good.

Houston is so good, we could be up 2-0

Hernandez looking unstoppable too.

Astros starting Urquidy in game 3. Put him under pressure early, get some mileage into their bullpen, sets it up nicely for games 4 and 5. Going to be interesting.

Yeah, I am all good as long as the Dodgers get their behinds whipped and sent back home.

For sure. We don’t want them winning it again and plus, it would put the Dodgers on 22 World Series won.

Braves 2-0 going to LA, you must be pretty pleased with things, @HolyCowCm😁

Oh my Buddha!

I know this will be obnoxious

But Sox should be up 3-0 after this game

They blew Game 1

Also, I know it's only Game 3

But this is destroying the Astros pitching staff for the series

(Well hopefully!)

red sox up 9-0 early two games in a row ; suggests dominence;

schwarber, e hernandez proving nice pickups by the front office;

3 grand slams in about 11 innings;

these big early leads are fun but it does make the rest of the game a long slog

As a Red Sox fan, I will take the long slog boring games  😀

But I do miss the excitement

I'm sure there will be plenty coming in next games

Stros are too good not to come alive

Hernandez is not a recent pick-up

But Schwarber was a bargain pick up

Still going while Rizzo and Bryant are at home  😀

12-3 top of the 9th.

Urquidy hooked early, kind of like what happened to Sale in game one for the Sox. Get some tired arms into that bullpen 💪

Another grand slam! One more for the post-season record. Amazing.
