Who the hell still flies with Thai Airways? They’re more expensive even if it’s the same plane!

For example a flight from BKK to INC to LAX on Asiana Airlines might be around $900. If you book with Thai Airways it would be $1200. They use the same plane and same time.

Asiana are broke as well.

The remains of the company are reluctantly being run by the government at present.

If you book use a credit card.

The Korean Development Bank has approved the merger of Asiana and Korean Air. The post merger integration plans are still under wraps. So there could be a question mark over an Asiana flight sometime in the future.

So say SimpleFlying.com

A TG flight?  Go ahead and book if you fancy a (largish) flutter on a lottery. As things currently stand I wouldn’t give you 50:50 odds on getting onto the plane.

😂😂. Spot on remarks. Fly in to Paris and make your way to the coast. Dingy with room for 4 (20 people on board) leaving every 30 minutes! It’s an escorted service courtesy of the French navy. As you enter U.K. waters you will be met by U.K. authorities. Given a £300 life jacket. Free food and drinks. Then you will jump any NHS queues and be given free health checks and any underlying problems sorted. I should however point out, that there is a dual pricing system in place. You either pay nothing, or pay sweet FA. Just remember to ditch your British passport in the channel if you want to avail yourself of this first class service.

Welcome to the U.K. 🙃

Don't forget your free full Brekky as its always an early morning Arrival.

aren't Thais banned from those countries?

Not just Thais, all nationalities from Thailand. It's the country that gets banned not the citizens of.

Kes, there is no ban to flying to the UK from Thailand - it is only that you are required to quarantine on arrival for 10 full days at approx GBP2500. Even if fully vaccinated as the Thai vaccination record system is not recognised in the UK. Plus also that if you are a UK citizen returning you cannot get vaccinated for free in the UK unless you can prove you are returning to take full time residence!

100% wrong.

Anyone and everyone can get vaccinated in the U.K. with no questions asked. You don’t need to be a resident or have an NHS number.

People don't read posts on the subject and flatout make wrong claims...

They really think that you can't come here, but of course you can if you can find a flight and jump through all the hoops that are setup.

The red-listing is about compulsary expensive quarantine on return from Thailand. So nobody with 1 or 2 or 3 week vacation time can do that, nor would want to.

Correct, the UK government have not out right prohibited it but have made it close to impossible for any non thailand residents to travel to thailand.

Most folks would find it close to impossible to get valid travel insurance cover in the UK under red list conditions which then makes it close to impossible for them to clear thai immigration on arrival as they have no valid insurance to cover their stay in thailand unless it is available on arrival before immigration.

this situation then gives the airlines the problem of if the passenger is denied entry into thailand for having incorrect documentation such as no valid compulsory insurance the airline will be responsible for all costs incurred and repatriation of the passenger back to the UK and probably UK quarantine costs also.

No genuine tourists are going to thailand from the uk anytime soon.

You also wouldn’t get your Certificate of Entry from the Thai embassy if you didn’t have adequate Covid Insurance. You can get insurance to travel to Thailand as it depends on the wording from the FCDO. Currently the FCDO only states:

The FCDO advise against all but essential travel to the whole of Thailand based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.

Compare this to the advice for travel to Afghanistan:

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advises against all travel to Afghanistan. You should not travel to Afghanistan.

The key words are “all but essential” and “advises against all travel”  so no insurance for Afghanistan but you can get it for Thailand.

Oh dear, it depends on which way you're flying. And my comment was not confirming a ban of Thailand it was about that it's the country of departure that would get banned not the citizens of such. Please do keep up.

You should think Thai Air would fly more directly to Phuket, but no one flight weekly from Paris, Frankfurt, London, Zurich and Kopenhagen. If you do't live in those countries you can't find those flights on their website.
If you want to fly th Thailand, even Phuket, their website states you can't transit in BKK, but have to go in Quarantaine in BKK first.
So far for playing short on the ball for Thai Air.
I guess it will be Singapore Airlines for me.

Yes. Well at least some of them.

Another well thought out plan from Thai Airlines the worlds leader in money losing plans.

Look a bit deeper. Nothing to do with Thai Airways more like certain people want to fly on their beloved airline once again. Out of Thailand , hardly bothering to return perhaps.

I never said any country was banned. I have no interest in banned countries. I corrected a poster who stated Thai nationals were banned, from/to it doesn't matter, as specific citizens are not banned but all nationalities in a COUNTRY when a ban is enforced.

If that is too hard for you to understand then blame your parents for not giving you a high enough IQ.
