Other nations are not trying to sabotage their nightlife.

I’m not sure about this. First of all I’m not sure it’s a deliberate sabotage?  I can also say that here in the U.K. nightclubs we’re closed for around 18 months and even now restrictions are tough. Bars and restaurants were also closed although they have been closed/open/closed and now open again.

The game changer is the vaccination and cutting the link between case numbers and hospitalisations/ deaths. I think the destruction of nightlife is a consequential  impact of the necessary restrictions. That said, I do think with Thailand’s climate and outdoor living, more could have be done to allow a degree of opening of bars where they are mainly outside. A tricky one….

Spot on Pal

But the UK are not crying out for millions of tourists to return to closed down entertainment areas.

first influenza pandemic of the 21st century occurred in 2009–2010 and was caused by an influenza A(H1N1) virus

The other "pandemics" you quote were influenza virus'  (flu viruses)

There are several key differences between a flu virus and the Covid-19 virus.  (google it)

So in my highly logical thinking, you are trying to compare apples and oranges.  555

Many first world governments and all down the line have not handled the current pandemic well

Peace and understanding

Never. Understanding should only be granted when deserved. The toxic crocodile leadership here  does not even come close. They care not one iota for the common Thai, and their policies consistently reflect that.

All Thai political parties go with the same moto:"first Thais".
And maybe Taksin "collected" money like the others, but there was one small difference: he cared for the poorer regions in the North and North-East. Maybe it was with the intention of getting their votes, but there he is better seen than other politicians (certainly compared to the one in charge now).

"MAYBE?"  I recall on several occasions his couriers were caught at airports with suitcass stashed to the brim with ThaI currency he bought from abroad with money he has withdraen from the Thai economy.  To achieve his original power and be twice re-elected he would go into the villages and buy one landless person some land, build them a house.  His return on investment was everyone in that village voted for him, then his sister, now they support the dregs of his party.  I can speak with first hand knowledge of living in a small Thai village that country folk are loyal and extremely supportive each other - and those that have supported them.  But all-in all, giving the man his due altruistic intentions initially, and despite the advancements he initiated in Thailand he achieved it through bribery.  Which is why he and his family are exiled.

I rarely criticize the people of Thailand. I love them. It is the authorities who are the target of my wrath. That is a huge distinction. Now, if you are doing PR work for the authorities, and getting a nice paycheck out of that, I understand your defense of them. Otherwise?

OKAY.  Here we are then.  You are at the very least a bigot.  The people of Thailand exclude those in authority yes?  (Or by your rule of deduction the authorities are distinctly NOT Thai people).  So, if the authorities were to disappear overnight and be replaced by "Thai people - who you love".  We would call them what?  OH YES! authorities.  You see where I'm going with this?  As I have said before you have a childish understanding of the world, it's people and an embecilic ability to rationalise.  Your idiotic suggestion that my support for rule of law, and order is being monetised is absolute proof your inability to deduce reality.  And is a simple minded knee-jerk reaction not too much different from "Nah-Nah-Nah-Na- Nah Nah"

That wouldn't fit the socialist/Marxist/Thaksinist agenda.
