Over 3,000 houses across 23 villages in the northeastern Thai province of Chaiyaphum have been affected by what is considered the most severe flooding in a century. Kittipong Thamsoparat, the Tambon Ban Phet Municipality mayor, says a massive volume of water has surged into the Bamnet Narong district by way of the nearby Thep Sathit district in Chaiyaphum, as well as Thepharak, and Dan Khun Thod districts of Nakhon Ratchasima. The whole town has been flooded in 1.5 - 2m water, rice fields destroyed, hospital put out of use and a lot the media haven't been able to access.

'PM Tells Residents in Flood Zones to ‘Pray’ Storm Away'

“It’s a natural disaster. We will fix it. You will only have a hard time for a short while,” Prayut said at one point. “Everyone please stay safe and strong. Your troubles are my troubles, too, because I care about the people.”
