The state of emergency in Thailand has been extended and the reopening of the country postpone following approval by the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration. The CCSA subcommittee met yesterday to approve the extension proposal and discuss reopening. Chairman of the subcommittee National Security Council Secretary-General Natthapon Nakpanich approved the proposal that keeps Thailand in a state of emergency and continues the existence of the CCSA. The extension will now continue for at least another 2 months until the end of November. The state of emergency was set to expire at the end of September before the extension was granted. […]

Well, maybe it allows them to throw out figures that nobody believes for longer. It's a shame but this won't convince other countries to take Thailand off of their red-list.

Well there you go, 2 statements that we all knew would be getting issued at some point because they said otherwise a couple of days back, normal for Thailand, say something 1 day and say something opposite the next.

TIT.

Blah, blah, blah.  Who is surprised by this?  Flippity flop, flippity flop!  That is what Thailand is being known for.  How long have they been doing this?  It wouldn't matter if they opened the country anyway because nobody is going to come here!!  Restrictions, hoops to jump through, quarantine!!  Who is going to do that when there are so many other choices for vacations with no restrictions or quarantine.  It is about someone hanging on to the power here.  Come October, they will flop again and change the opening date until Dec or Jan.  It is what they are good at.

If I was you, don't even waste your time reading about the reopening, it is a same thing over and over again for the last 19 months & nothing happen still. Even, they shutdown the entire country, the same results & too many cases of COVID-19 for the last 6 months and have no clue what to do. Now, they are extending the state of emergency until the end of November. GTFO

If the state of emergency extended until the end of November, it means the next 3 weeks by October 15, the reopening will be Dec 1st

I'm not surprised. But no amount of extension will do any good. The only thing that will help is vaccination. Mass vaccination. Vaccinating the holiday destinations as a priority is the only type of opening that can be achieved. And even that has been underwhelming. Phuket should be fully vaccinated by now and even though it was given priority, it still isn't. I really feel for the Thai people because their national government has really let them down.

They are not aware maybe, that it needs some time to prepare a holiday trip. They’ve postponed the reopening on short notice and one day they will reopen on short notice. But it will take a couple of months - maybe more than half a year - until the tourists will come again in higher numbers.

Anyway, you don’t need 70% of the population being vaccinated to welcome tourists, who are vaccinated and double tested. A sandbox is very safe. If you want to find a risk, it’s a much higher risk for an international tourist to get infected in Thailand than for a Thai person to get infected by an international tourist.

Thailand better worries about its domestic tourism, starting soon and supported with money from the government. You need far more than 70% being vaccinated for that kind of adventure.

There is no country how extendet the state of emergency since almost 2 years they mostly deal with their diseases laws. State of emergency is for natural disasters or terrorist attacks or wars. The real reason is that the Thais are fed up with this government, dictatorship, incompetent clowns and they know it, a reflection you can read in Thailand and international

The announced minimum daily 1m vaccination drive as from yesterday, is today being described as up to 1m vaccinations per day (BP 25/9). So, no change really.

At that level it will take months to double vaccinate the country (and boost the ones that were jabbed early) until it's reasonably safe to ditch the restrictive/preventative measures and open-up the country.

Time for the government to be clear about this and to assist the ones most in need. Having the same discussion every two weeks is useless if you know it's going to take time.

The thai people and economy deserve more than these foolish burocrats who have no idea what they are doing..

If the vaccinations were accepted and distributed 6 months ago as other countries , then we could open the country safely next month..now there is too much virus and no way forward but quality vaccines  and mass vaccinations to open country maybe by xmas..

Personally, I'm kickin' back and waiting for the real revolution to come about.

I have been hoping that will come about to benefit the real Thai people for many years. One day in the not too distance future maybe.
