Suspended jail sentence..???

No, you get given a jail term , but you dont have to serve the time in jail .

You are allowed to go free on the condition that you don't commit any offence whilst free for the duration of your prison term and if you commit any offence at all , you will serve the original sentence and the sentence of your new crime

This is correct, I have had a couple when I was younger   :(
