Any news on gyms reopening? Someone posted on Facebook that some government said they were allowing them to reopen but it’s in Thai so the translation might be off

By now, if those July-August lockdown measures had any impact, the numbers should have gone up. They did not so the measures were unnecessary.

Test more and you will see the numbers shoot up. Test less = less cases, best plan they could come up with to control the Delta outbreak.

Strange logic.

The rabid dog I've kept in a cage hasn't bitten anyone, so there's no need to keep it in a cage???

Both the deaths and the number of cases are going down. Why people are so full-karen-crazy with this. I could understand that last year but now we have solid data from many countries. It is no black death, this is very similar to Hong Kong Flu pandemic 1968. Up to 2 million deaths worldwide, mostly elderly too back then. No panic, no vaccinations, no lockdowns.

Today, the case fatality rate is only 0,42 percent in Thailand for people under 60, meaning one out of 240 and most of them seriously ill already anyway. Under 40 it is even less. Very rare under 20. The only people need protecting is people over 60, more so over 70 or otherwise compromised. But they could die of ordinary flu too.

You do notice, they never release any age statistics in these daily reports because they know it would show people over 70 mostly dying of this and very few under 50.

That's why they ordered those inferior Chinese tests. They come preprinted with only the negative line ☺️

You think it's similar to HongKong Flu pandemic with over 2 million deaths worldwide. Yet Covid currently stands at 4.55 million deaths with no sign of it ending anytime soon.

As for the majority of the deaths being among the elderly and those already with health problems. Do these people not deserve to live anymore, perhaps we should just let our parents and grandparents go. I don't think so......

Population was 3,5 billion back then, last year 7,8 billion. 81 million more than in 2019. Covid is not even a blip in population growth.

Most Thai grandparents rely on their adult kids working in Thailand and themselves working at least sometimes. If they do not have work, the money will run out soon. Many of those kids cannot work if lockdowns so this Covid is least of their worries. Traffic accidents kill 25000 per year, this virus few thousand young working age Thais so far.

I agree many elderly Thais rely on younger family members to support them. Lots of them travelled up from BKK to see their parents and grandparents for Songkran unfortunately they brought them an extra special gift of Covid. The young working age are ok so all is well.

As for me I respect the elderly and what they have done for the world. Cannot see why the loss of a little freedom in the short term to protect lives, at least until the vaccination program can catch up is any bad thing.

Road deaths in Thailand are not really in this equation or part of this topic so I will defer on that one.

Looks like UK is not buying this progress. Thailand is kept in red list again

Saw mentioned there would be no further movements in the listing until the New Year. Hope I got that wrong.

According to the Travel Secretary: "We will look to set out a further review for the UK’s international travel policy early in the new year to provide further certainty for the spring and summer 2022 seasons"

I guess you are right...

This is not Hong Kong flu. Hong Kong flu killed around 2 million and lasted 18 months. This has killed more than twice that and still on going.

They do release age data (see below from Bangkok Post. Sorry, but if you can’t find and analyse something as simple as this then it draws in to question your other conclusion that this is just a bit of flu.

Population is is over 2 times bigger nowadays. And that kind of 34-90 statement you get by having a couple of younger case than 50. Technically true but not honest.  In Sweden mere 200 out of 14500 were under 50 and less than 30 under 20.

For an healthy 30 year old woman the chances of hospitalization of COVID is one out of 7000, dying one out of 250000. Source: FDA public hearing two days ago.

But what is your point? Allow over 50’s to die? What about under 50’s who need to get emergency treatment in hospital but no ICU beds as they are full of 50+ Covid patients. When are you going to grasp the bigger picture here?

Early treatment is the key, not vaccinating in the middle of pandemic with leaky, experimental vaccines. In the US and EU the treatment is basically you are on your own, we are not trying anything else than these experimental vaccines unless you are very sick. Come back to hospital when your lips are blue. That is many times too late and is literally killing people.

In developing countries they are trying all kinds of combinations and some of them are working very well. Here is one account to follow. That is true medical science, not some tyrannical take the vax or we'll arrest you.
