Yesterday marks the 7th anniversary of the coup in which the National Council for Peace and Order took control of Thailand and PM Prayut Chan-o-cha rose to power. When are the next elections??  Junta did a good job at first - but it is time for a change - has been since 2018.

Military coups are seen by some as automatically wrong and I tend to agree.  But Thailand in 2014 was heading towards serious civil unrest and there was far too much corruption evertwhere.  The junta enforced peace and stopped what could have descended into civil war.  They are the only 'Govt' that started tearing down illegal hotels and resorts, and they started remnoving vendors who took over streets, and they removed people that had built their homes on land and canals they did not own and created their own little villages,  and so much more.  Sure it was wrong but it was needed in 2014 - but they should have returned to the barracks after 12 months or so - but they decided to stay and fill their boots.
