Hi All,

New member to the forum here.   I'm looking to travel to Samui in early October for my 40th.

I understand that rules are constantly changing but as of today (Sep 9th), what are the restriction to fly to Samui coming from Bangkok?

Negative pcr, health declaration form, the tracking app, anything else? Is being fully vaccinated required?

Thanks

Hello and Welcome to ThaigerTalk

I'm not sure of what the restrictions or requirements may be in October, perhaps best to contact Bangkok Airways for the latest information though it could change at any time.

These are their current 2 advisories for travellers > International Samui+> Arrivals

TAT is available on LINE and I find them to be very accurate and responsive to all my questions.

Thank you. The TAT Line ID is @tatcontactcenter if anyone wants to add.

I'm going to ask them if they can give info on travel restrictions for each province and post here when I get an answer.

Ok here's some info I got from TAT (LINE ID: @tatcontactcenter). They are quick to respond and answer questions I found out today.

TOPIC: travel restrictions FROM BANGKOK to the below provinces

Surat Thani/Ko Samui
Songhkla
Krabi
Chiang Mai
Phuket
Pattaya/Chon Buri
Hua Hin

ANSWER: Without vaccination certificate, you cannot travel to the above mentioned provinces. You need to undergo a 14-day quarantine when arriving in their areas. For Phuket, you will be refused entry if you cannot provide the vaccination certificate.

Most of the provinces requires travelers to report their arrival to local authorities or local health volunteers and to quarantine at home or their accommodation, not at an ASQ hotel.

For Hua Hin, unvaccinated travelers are required to go into a 14-day home/hotel quarantine.

For Chiang Mai, travelers may quarantine at designated hotel or at provided state quarantine facilities.

For Surat Thani, travelers are required to provide a vaccination certificate "or" a COVID-19 test result done by an RT-PCR method, and issue no longer than 72 hours. The information is in accordance with the provincial order as of 4 August 2021. Please keep checking for possible updated measures.

Currently, there's no quarantine requirement for travelers to Chonburi. Now, we are checking for more the measures announced for Krabi and Rayong.

For Koh Samui, you must have been vaccinated. If you will receive a Moderna vaccine, you must have received one shot of the vaccine for no less than 21 days before traveling to Koh Samui.

To enter Phuket, you must have received 1 jab of the Moderna vaccine for no less than 14 days and you must provide a fully-paid hotel booking/package tour booking to the officer at checkpoint. Some airlines may require such documents when checking in.

We would like to add that you will also need to provide the COVID-19 test result issued no longer than 72 hours before arriving in Phuket.

For Krabi, you will need to be fully vaccinated with 2 shots of COVID-19 vaccine or only 1 shot if it is an AstraZenaca. You must have been vaccinated for at least 14 days before entering Krabi and you must provide the COVID-19 test result done by RT-PCR method or rapid antigen test, issued no loner than 7 days.

A letter certifying that you have essential purpose for travel is also required.

Please check for updated measures before traveling to any destination and always check with airlines if they require their passengers to provide additional documents when checking in.

Ok, I'm about to go there tomorrow and I've figured out that there are certain things we need to do.

***NOTE: for people who live in Thailand and have been fully vaccinated***

I will fly to Surat Thani by Thai Lion Air and they told me only that tracking app is necessary for the flight.

From there, I'll take the ferry at which I will be charged 390 THB pp for the C19 test. I called the Amphur from Koh Samui and they have told me this only has to be done entering Koh Samui, but not for leaving.

I don't need to quarantine and can just go around normally as long as I update that app each time.

Does anyone know though how their policy is on face masks? Lately I'm almost afraid of reactions when I put it off, but at the beach it seems to be ok, right? I don't want to go waterboarding in Koh Samui for my holiday. 😂

Good simple advice. I'm looking to go diving at Koh Mak and was wondering what was required for domestic travel to Trat. I guess a quick call to Bangkok Airways can help. Thank you KpatainRob.

Thank you for that. I'm planning to overland from Bangkok to Trat as I have a week planned for diving and canoeing in mid to late Novemeber. This contact helps a lot.

Good results. I contacted then via Line as per suggestion. They responded quickly with a straight up to date answer but also told me to follow up just before going. Thank you once again.

Thanks. I am trying to find the rules also but mostly for my Thai friends (national) who will fly with me to Krabi from BKK after I get there and through my 1 day in SHA+ hotel.  Thai Smiles airlines has a chart that implies you need vaccine and a negative test within 7 days. But it doesn't say if ATK or PCR test is needed.

And other airlines sites do not mention anything.     I guess its the responsibility of the person to figure out the town/city rules but there should be a site to view that is updated.
