Thailand’s Tourism Minister wants the country to re-open fully, without quarantine, by January, but says this will depend on vaccination efforts. According to a Bangkok Post report, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn is citing herd immunity as a condition for the re-opening, pointing out that Bangkok’s re-opening has been delayed from October to November, as most residents are still waiting for their second vaccine dose. However, Phiphat says the re-opening of Chiang Mai, Chon Buri (Pattaya), and Prachuap Khiri Khan (Hua Hin) can go ahead on October 1. The central province of Phetchaburi is also set to re-open on the same date, but […]

"Only safe areas can re-open to Thai tourists on November 1, while international tourists are expected to enter without quarantine from January, led by travel bubbles with neighbouring countries starting on January 15.”

So now they're talking Travel Bubble yet again...as usual a distant future plan.

Deluded. Thailand needs to get all provinces into yellow or green zone status, get all nightlife and entertainment venues back open and remove all restrictive measures if it expects tourism to return in any worthwhile volume. What Phuket has shown the world is that "no quarantine" is actually "different" quarantine, and international tourists, especially from the west, are not so easily duped by their deflective language. Potential tourists from Europe have cheaper, closer (1-4 hours flight times) and less restrictive resort options around the Mediterranean, Adriatic and Aegean seas during summer months, and will do that rather than endure the 13 hours flight time, four covid test nonsense, restricted movement for 14 days and have bars, clubs and nightlife still closed!

What's wrong with these people? How can visitors arrive in the 4 new provinces beginning October 1 when there's no guidance about the details and the COE is supposed to be submitted at least 15 WORKING DAYS before departure for Thailand? These people are stupid, clueless buffoons...at best.

Quote: However, Phiphat says the re-opening of Chiang Mai, Chon Buri (Pattaya), and Prachuap Khiri Khan (Hua Hin) can go ahead on October 1.

Quote: Meanwhile, the Bangkok Post reports that from October 15, an additional 25 provinces will be added to the 7+7 extension scheme for tourists who’ve spent 7 days in Phuket, Samui, Chiang Mai, Chon Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi, and Bangkok. However, Phiphat says these provinces will need to have enough of their residents vaccinated first.

Quote: Phiphat adds that, in the event of some parts of the country not achieving the required vaccination level, sealed route schemes could be put in place instead of a full re-opening.

So no stopping and open up these 3 places being CM, HH and CB, but for the next 7+7 25 provinces they need to have enough of their populace vaccinated first. Well this guy and the government cronies are just another example of IQ's needing to be over a certain limit before they can be put into a position of trying to think. Brilliant. No wonder the country has tanked into an abyss.

And having sealed routes in not vaccinated enough areas designated for opening? CM is not vaccinated even a little. The sealed routes? Well even now all the Bangkok people drive on the side roads to get in avoiding any check point, and even in this case if they did go through the 1 checkpoint is no problem anyway as all the Military and officials are sitting down talking and playing on their phones. I have went through it so many times now in the last 3 weeks and it is fully a crying laughable shame.

Obviously, they need to allow fully vaccinated people to return, showing a neg test, and a short few days later, another one. That's it.

The two weeks and three tests are ridiculous overkill...

Reopening Thailand, or any country really is going to require a huge vaccination effort. For that to happen there must be supply. The most demanded vaccines appear to be Pfizer and Moderna. So why are countries not pressing these companies to give license to produce these vaccines in home countries? Why is the US Government not being put under international pressure to make these companies give license to other countries to produce these MRNA vaccines? There is also the glaring issue of vaccine inequality throughout the globe. We will only get out of this mess together.

Not seen the international news today? The EU has several 100's of millions (yes, no typo) of vaccines on the shelves, not being used. It has been suggested they supply- or donate them to other countries. They're going to think about it...

Licensing is not easy. Like with AZ, there are no facilities that are setup to produce these vaccines, so you have to completely convert something existing or build it new. That takes many months. And the "ingredients" are not rice and sugar. They can't produce endless amounts. In the end using existing production lines to the max is seen as most efficient.

Plus, AZ is phased out. A disaster for the licensee here in Thailand, so they keep using it, followed by a Pfizer shot. Guess what happens if there are lots of expensive production lines and something proves to be less than great? Correct, then it's used anyway.

The status quo isn't so bad. The shortage is not due to the manufacturer, it's the delay in purchasing.

The fact that this article in the BKK Post starts with the following, says it all:

The Tourism and Sports Ministry vows to open the whole country without quarantine by January next year, but such a move largely depends on nationwide herd immunity.

This shows the three basic problems with all that is Thai about this pandemic.

1. It’s full of hopeful and wishful thinking, based on nothing - Unscientific claptrap.

2. It also includes a big get out clause of a dependency for which TAT is not in control of (vaccination rates). - Hence they can save face when it doesn’t happen.

3. It refers to Herd immunity which is something developed countries have realised can’t happen with current vaccines and the fact previously infected people can contract them virus again - The Thais listen to no one but themselves.

If you could, you’d love to shake the life out of these people and tell them to wake up, open their eyes and do some basic research.

Simply beyond belief and hence it’s worthy of my favourite picture to describe my feelings right now about this utter nonsense.

Been enjoying too many brunettes lately? Time for a change? Would you be ok with the 67,000 baht oil change on the Ferrari? How about the 189,000 baht tune-up?

Oh, I forgot, we are just fantasizing. Sometimes reality clouds my vision!

I do not think all nightlife venues will ever re-open. Many are permanently sabotaged. And I would venture to guess this was intentional sabotage. The fake puritans want to remake Thailand, in their own image. At least the image they perceive of themselves, which we all know is a major form of pathological delusion.

So, that included killing Thailand's nightlife. Willfully. Covid became that opportunity and it was seized with vigor. And within their bubbles of self delusion, they do not get the fact that the nightlife here is part of Thailand's charm and appeal, to a significant portion of tourists, regardless of whether or not they partake of it.

The goons in charge are focusing their efforts in all the wrong areas. They are trying to make Thailand a Quaker State. A land of purity. Total BS. Nonsense. Misplaced priorities, and wasted efforts. And likely completely fake and hypocritical. And we are not just talking about the "industry". Little do these ninnies know, the girls will just go underground, and online, but it will operate more in line with the enormous sex industry in the US. Illegal, underground, unprotected, unregulated, potentially overpriced, and potentially more dangerous for all involved. So, they would be moving the nation backwards, and harming their people, and tourism, in the process.
