224 Coronavirus-related deaths and 15,452 new Covid-19 infections were reported today by Thailand’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration. The infection trend has declined over the past week, but the daily fatality count remains high. 4,682 patients remain in a serious condition and 1,008 are on artificial respiration as of last night. Nearly 187,000 people received their first vaccine yesterday and over 180,000 received a second dose as Thailand inches closer to 10 million fully vaccinated people with 2 doses administered. In the past 24 hours, the CCSA recorded 18,257 recoveries from the coronavirus. There are now 152,105 people receiving treatment […]

Wakey wakey 💤💤💤

Yesterday there were not 15.452 new cases

Yesterday they found 15.452 new cases, only amongst the ones they tested.

There could be 50.000 or 100.000 new cases, but they simply didn't test that many to know...

Copying government figures is easy. Providing correct info requires more detail.

Too easy to roll out the propaganda numbers Bob. Asking about the truth upsets too many money men.

Forget the actual numbers, the reality is that there is no meaningful improvement in the situation. Vaccination is still light years away from reaching a significant proportion of the mass population and there is no concerted communication programme to prepare people for the fact that this virus cannot be beaten. Days of childish political game playing in a naive attempt at getting a no confidence vote merely was a side show that has helped nothing. Talk of opening up tourism is based on the ludicrous belief that there are people wanting to come here when in fact Thailand is seen as a mightily risky place to waste money in visiting. The government is drifting into a disasterous continuation of the the chaos of the last 18 months.

You're spot on Pompies, alot more "Red Zones" are on the way and only a % of actual cases are being reported. Thais (and westerners) don't want to end up in a field hosptial for 14 days... The "window of opportunity" for this "high season" didn't even show up in the cards. By mid 2022 Thailand will have recieved enough vacinnes donated by other countries to properly innoculate the masses... then they can go play around with their tabacoo leaf vacinnes all they want...by then the other countries will be donating alpha-delta vacinne cocktails. The government knows how to plan... plan... plan..  but not how to execute. Sad.

I do disagree about your comment that "The government is drifting into a disasterous continuation of the the chaos of the last 18 months".... drifting???  This is becoming a "Highway to Hell". We've got 4 zone types from yellow to dark red... if you're not already a "dark red" the goverment gives you the freedoms to get achieve "dark red"...

Great post and sadly I have to share your 'Highway to Hell' analogy.  Sorry I missed your debut post, the other day, but thanks for that!

If you only test a small number of people, then you only find a small number of positive cases.

It's not a complicated principle to understand, when practicing the art deceit.

Anyone who has eyes to see with, knows the problem is massively understated, and thereby played down, for public consumption.

They do however, give the game away, when they let slip for example that in Phuket,  80% of hospital beds are now occupied.
