The daily numbers of Covid-19 infections in Thailand have remained steady around the 15,000 mark, a drop from the peak and recent daily totals well above 20,000 infections. Today’s 257 deaths still remains a high figure but is expected to ease over time. Out of 1.26 million people infected in Thailand since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, over 1 million people have recovered from Covid-19 infections while about 155,000 are still receiving medical treatment and over 12,000 have died. The 20,351 people released from treatment outweighs the 15,942 new infections, a trend that has continued for 2 weeks now, […]

So more Pfizer coming in but they still want to push the AZ as one of the jabs with it. Also still pushing the Sinovac as one jab. I was fortunate to get one Pfizer jab yesterday and will get one more in 3 weeks, but my family also wants Pfizer or Moderna and no AZ or Sinovac jab. These clowns need to stop pushing stuff on people for what they don't want and let the people decide what they want to pay for an jab.

In a perfect world...

But they're not going to throw away what they spent money on and invested in already. And can't complain too much if it's free. You can accept or politely decline.

A happy medium would be to cut out the GPO for direct purchases. Then people have a choice for a fair price.

I just considered myself lucky yesterday. Otherwise I'd have waited until it was available in other ways.

Interesting that commenters talk about wanting this vaccine or that vaccine, and yet there are so many who have either no choice or no vaccine available.

There should be a choice for the people who can pay for it. These clowns should be happy that people are willing to take a jab and everyone should have that choice of what they jab, not what they are told to jab. My family wife and kids have in mind what they want and that is only Pfizer or Moderna with no combination stupidly now being the plan. No AZ for the risk and especially if it is made in Thailand. their thoughts their direction of choice. I was lucky yesterday to get a Pfizer shot for free, but I would have gladly paid for it no problem.

Yeah, me too on the lucky to have the first jab yesterday. My family will wait for the perfect world jab as no one will or can force them. Their words not mine.

Well, that's fair enough. Downside is that delta is spreading fast and even faster with lifting restrictions, so keep them safe until they had their jabs...

I'm bored with entitled people saying what they won't have and moaning because Thailand hasnt got it or they havent been offered it. Just my opinion, no argument.

There are plenty of people on the forum who refuse anything injected into their body. I think along the same lines you can be selective. It's not entitlement.

I would even say that without many people acquiring information and pushing back against the government, we they would still only have the choice between Sinovac, Sinovac or Sinovac!

Yeah thanks Bob20. We all stay positive things will turn out the good way for how everybody wants it. Good thing nowadays is having and using social media as a tool which is how you and I were both able to get our lucky 1rst shot of what vaccine we wanted yesterday. And social media also allows me and and all of us to keep close tabs monitoring the situation if it turns for the worse.

Oh dear Poolie, you might have hit a raw nerve here. Personally I want an Aston Martin as my second car (fun car) but I'm stuck with an Audi TT. The problem is we have now got too many self appointed 'experts' and 'specialists' who rely on DC comics, Marvel, Rheuters et al. for their fountain of knowledge they spew out on here.  I never realised that all my working life I've been surrounded by all these ultra knowledgeable 'experts' in Virology and immunology.

Well, feel free to believe what you want. As we're here anonymously, it's up to anyone to argue as they see fit.

But if you haven't figured out who are the scientifically educated academics here, then you're clearly not one of them.

Ahem, ahem.  I believe the topic was: Covid-19 deaths still high, infections falling, vaccines coming

Of course the infection numbers are coming down.  They are coming down on purpose.  Either the government is lying (no surprise if it was) or they are reducing their testing, so the numbers have no place to go but down.

We're not seeing a corresponding decrease in death, so chances are the first numbers aren't actually legitimate.

As for vaccines coming...they should be more equitable about EVERYONE having choice, not just Thais or farang with health problems.

The deaths are not legitimate numbers, just as so many had to be reclassified in the states. You can't scare the people and keep them in line with case #'s you need DEATHS! Doesn't matter if 167 of the however many deaths had one foot in the grave they are counted as a covid death.

Sorry, but this discussion is old.

Besides, within one country the rules are handled the same each day and the death toll is the only thing they can't manipulate too much.

Certainly more reliable than infection rates because they don't publish the sample size.

There are also still people that say there are no more deaths than any other year. Yet the statistics say something very different.

And if you believe no data at all then you can't defend either side of the argument.

When this is all over (if they ever let it end) the deaths will be insignificant, a rounding error and still will not be more than Thailand road carnage deaths in a year. So, we do ZERO for road deaths but turn up response to Covid to 11, sounds really normal and rational.

Just like in the states, we did ZERO for the flu, some years it was bad and could kill a couple hundred thousand, covid, max everything out...some nuance would be nice.

"..... expected to ease over time" ..... I'm sure it will, but how much time?

That sort of platitude hardly inspires confidence .....
