Why would you want to leave Phuket (out of the frying pan into the fire), at least it has a modicum of control of the situation. How long that will last is debatable.
As EdwardV mentions it is a lot of flying time, money and red tape so I hope the tourists get their moneys worth. (think not) Expensive ray of sunshine without nightlife etc.
