Amid the growing outcry from the scientific community to reroute AstraZeneca vaccines set for export to urgently vaccinate people in Thailand, one expert warns of the harrowing possibility that half of Thailand’s 70 million people could get Covid-19 if we don’t vaccinate at least 40 million people within the next 100 days. Dr Manoon Leeechawengwong, a leading expert and specialist in respiratory diseases at Vichaiyut Hospital, took to Facebook to join the growing cry from experts urging the government to stop exporting AstraZeneca produced in Thailand. The post called for PM Prayut Chan-o-cha to call on powers he can assume […]

This company siam biosence was given the contract and was to produce around 30 million vaccines  a month . Rather than being the fat kid in the playground that has been given a bag of sweets only to now not share them!  why not find out why the out of work coconut picking monkeys can't produce and fix this issue of producing the amount of vaccines they signed the contract to make

Thailand is not an island so denying supplies to neighbouring countries will only ensure a prolonging of their misery and increase the potential for their population to export Covid back into Thailand. Additionally Thailand will never again be regarded as a trustworthy member of ASEAN, if it was ever so characterised. As for herd immunity, forget that concept because the very people who developed the Oxford vaccine are saying it cannot be achieved because the virus mutations and breakthrough infections develop faster than vaccination & vaccine development can bring it into control. So we had better accept that Covid is an ever present part of our lives and every nation needs to act in concert.

Due to the 'special relationships' between AstraZeneca and Siam Bioscience and the latter with the Crown Property Bureau, I advise all concerned members to be mindful of the country's Lese Majeste laws in their posting on this controversial topic. Any posts that make forbidden references will be immediately removed.

Thank you for your understanding and compliance.

Excellent!

Anything  else?

Are you saying no mention of Siam Bio Science is allowed at all, or just comments critical of their contract and output? Even Tv allows mention of them.

Well one of the problems is they are still moving forward with the Chinese one for a first jab. So you remain vulnerable until you pass the all clear in waiting period in order to get the better next vaccine jab.

But the next problem with that is that again takes a period of time to get up to speed to protect you. So if correct, everything that happens now still leaves you open vulnerable. Well that is the way I read it.

No, not at all. 'Forbidden references' includes all terms directly pertaining to the Thai royal family, i.e. their names and terms such as 'His Majesty'.

Thanks for your query. If common sense prevails there should be no problems.

Man, that poor boozing and partying (in shady joints, not at all in Obama's sophisticated vaccinated people like parties) virus itself has to do ALL THE WORK! So unfair!

I don't understand all this...

It is clear since a long time that this virus will never magically disappear.

It is also pretty clear that the vast majority of people won't have serious symptoms.

So the only thing we can do is vaccinate ONLY the people at risk, elderly or sick/weak ones, and keep living our lives, exactly how we handle the flu.

We cannot live in permanent lockdowns and restrictions.

Stop the fear mongering and clickbait for one so called expert opinion. I was hoping Thaiger News would be better than this.

As for Neill Fronde smarten up. This is Thailand not California.

Siam Bioscience does not own the intellectual property. Part of their contract for receiving a license to manufacture the vaccine means they need to export. Smoke and mirrors vaccine-nationalism to hide the abject failure of government to acquire sufficient stocks for their people

Your strategy has worked in which country, exactly?

Fair warning there. I think this answers a number of questions earlier relating to scrutiny of what has happened at Siam bioscience. It’s simply not possible to investigate without crossing a line that should never be crossed.
