An ambulance driver from central Thailand’s Ayutthaya province has reportedly tested positive for Covid twice in a 1 month period. The 39 year old ambulance driver, “Wachira”, recently tested positive for Covid. This was a “surprise” for the Wachira as it wasn’t his first time testing positive. The man says he had previously tested positive when other medical officials also tested positive for Covid at Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital. Reportedly, 18 people had tested positive at that time. All of the people made a “full recovery” and returned to work like nothing happened. Then, Wachira’s wife, a nurse in […]

No, Wachira's second such recovery.

But this isn't terribly unexpected.  Earlier in the pandemic there were others that had been infected twice.

Here it would be interesting to note if he was infected with the same variant of the virus.

The gift that keeps on giving ,hopefully this medical worker got a booster of Pvacc to lessen the chances of hospitalization!

Hopefully he didn’t infect other people!

I personally know people who have been infected even after getting their 2 jabs, albeit they are in the uk.
I still haven’t asked them what strain they both were.
It makes me wonder about these vaccines, I’m no scientist and I’m one of those people in a high risk group.

Wachira was scheduled to get the Pfizer vaccine yesterday. It would be his first dose of any vaccine.

So much for the claim that medical staff have all been vaccinated.

it would be nice if the thai government could understand the difference between getting infected and getting sick. the same here applies to Wachira. It is shocking, that even medical staff does not know the difference and what the vaccine is for.
The problem because of this, is, that the government is still blocking tourism from ramping up. The government thinks that tourists are afraid of covid. but that is not the case at all for tourists that are vaccinated twice. they are just pissed because bars and other things are closed and because they have to pay for 3 PCR tests that makes no sense and pay for special quarantine hotels and so on and so on.
This is why tourists are not coming. The don't care about covid, they don't care about catching covid in some bar either. They are vaccinated - end of story. For people who are vaccinated twice, covid practically does not exists anymore. Sure, they can get infected, but who cares?
Vaccinate the people who want the vaccine. Make sure that tourists areas are really vaccinated good and go from there. No quarantine for tourists, no PCR tests, no alcohol ban, no closed bars etc. Just open the f*ck up.

It may come as a shock to you, but tourists aren't the only people in Thailand.

You've more than made your case for opening up, if only it were so simple! A strong post and sorry for missing your earlier debut post.

Nurses and frontline worker are not vaccinated but Prayut and Anutin did their best, Senators and their Golf caddies are vaccinated already, as people in tourist areas without tourists are. Disgusting!

Rapid tests detect antibodies

No. Rapid tests detect antigens, not antibodies. An antigen is the part of a pathogen that the immune system responds to and produces antibodies to fight. After an infection the antibodies persist to confer additional protection but an antigen test will not detect anything because it's not looking for antibodies.

Now, you can get an antibody test but all that does is confirm that at some time in the past you've been either infected or vaccinated.

Coronavirus antibodies typically have a short half-life. That's why you can get several colds in a single year. COVID has shown a similar pattern with documented reinfections. Multiple variants also increase the chance of this happening.
