The government is pondering an amnesty bill that would grant medical officials/officials connected with fighting Covid, legal protection against criminal charges to enable government operations/government officials to deal with the Covid situation. Also, the bill will allow the officials to make “tough decisions” sans legal consequences, says Thai government officials. The somewhat opaque announcement did not clarify what “criminal charges” the medical officials were looking at before this bill. Anutin Charnvirakul, the Public Health Minister, said today that the proposed draft law/amnesty bill would give legal protection to medical service staff, doctors, and others involved with the Covid situation… So, […]

There is obviously panic amongst those at the top of the pyramid because they know how badly they have dealt with the pandemic. First trying to shut down free speech and now trying to hide from being found guilty. These are the acts of frightened schoolyard bullies. But the court of public opinion has already deemed then guilty so preventing the courts of finding them culpable merely ensures that they will be subjected to retribution in other forms. They can run, they can grasp at straws but they cannot hide.

If memory serves me correctly, it was an amnesty bill which was the tipping point for the last coup, was it not?

If their intent is to protect medical officers, then clearly state, the law does not apply to government officials outside of direct medical providers.

Those responsible for the failures in vaccine procurement and in the failures of pandemic management should not be granted immunity under any circumstances.

Here they go again. Ansputin wants his arse protected, or may we say big P as well. This will give them free reign to prance around being more irresponsible if they so wish.

This should be a crime in itself. Protect the front line real doctors and real health care workers, not these ballerinas moonlighting pretending to be one.

Pathetic is the only word that springs to mind. Its a pity the vaccine programme isn't ramped up as fast as these Arse covering measures and Decree's quickly ratified. No wonder the local's are now seeing this lot for what they are.

The Junta can give themselves all the amnesty that they want, as long as they leave peacefully when they are voted out in 2023.

Unfortunately there are still a few blind ones out there. Would be great if they all just got together in the millions of a protest in every city united and said: We are mad as he*l and we are not going to take it anymore. Get out now and run while you still can.

I think you are all shooting too high here.

I read this as the government's acknowledgment that they will have to ration medical facilities and supplies; beds, drugs, etc.  In that process doctors will have to make decisions about who they will try to save and who they will allow to die with no treatment or insufficient treatment.

They are proposing this to protect the doctors and hospitals from being sued for allowing Grandpa Somchai who had a handful of pre-existing conditions to die, because he would cost too much in bed use time and facility use and probably wouldn't make it anyway.

This is a euthenasia bill.

Hell will freeze over before this junta lets it go. They stole the last 1 so they will simply steal it again and any resistance will be threatened with a jail term or a Tank and riot Police keep them in Power. This lot will even go as far to keep covid high so the people cannot leave and congregate at the voting Boothe's. Hence no Elections due to Covid.

Didn’t the Eagles say something similar in the Eighties? Then they brought an album out of the same name!

Nevermind, i never heard of the next junta resected any amnesty given by the current junta. There is a difference between amnesty to medical workers who make mistakes while being overworked and underpaid and the officials. I am pretty sure later ones will rot in hell one way or another

Think you may be wrong there.  You honestly think he will give them a chance to kick his ass out with a vote.

Your are probably right - and that is the worry.  Will the Thai Junta 'do a Myanmar' when they lose the next election. If they all have amnesty then maybe they will let it go - and just go quietly.

This is a very odd Statement which is so ambigeous and immediatly raises suspicions as to the real Intention... Doctors and health workers already have a broad immunity to make decisions based on likely outcome however If criminality is shown then they at all levels should be liable for their actions.

what they really mean is policymakers covering themselves, doctors, nurses and medical person are exempt from any claims as very are doing a great job, under the disarray, that exist in this current government

Yes, that 'mad as hell' movie, 'Network', is one of my all time favourites. What a star turn Peter Finch put in!

But, getting back to your real message, I agree that before long there must be far fewer 'blind' people, seemingly un-bothered by all this crap from the top.

Quite well could be. Also could wipe away legal troubles for death cover ups or posting wrong figures or mass burials if they could get away with it to sanitize all they deem fit to sanitize. It is a golden egg magic wand that allows them to commit murder and lie to the holy highest level. This the people should protest and descend on these unscrupulous vulture a-holes. Making an amnesty card is the lowest scum thing they could do.

But hey, aren't we all in the Covd fight. Can't we twist it to our benefit as well?

Because of Covid and this government I am poor, so I had to rob the gold shop to save my life. See, I wear a mask everyday so I am the same as you.

He went on to say that the draft bill would bolster confidence with Covid officials and alleviate concerns about diagnosis, medical treatment, vaccine procurement and other medical decisions. Further, that the government wants medical officials to have full morale right now. Also, that this draft law would benefit the Thai people and Covid patients in the end.

Now how is this going to benefit anybody except their own selfish Hi-So selves.

Even if patients die, medical staff are blameless as long as they have followed best practice for treatment and triage.

Prime ministers and ministers, on the other hand, can be prosecuted for malfeasance in public office and sentenced to decades in jail, which some previous ministers are currently serving, and fined billions of baht.

That could include, just for the sake of argument, turning down offers of millions of doses of vaccines so that the government had no option but to buy from other preferred sources, or allocating vaccineIs to win votes in your own province when there was no possible medical or economic justification and the vaccines were badly needed elsewhere.  Purely hypothetically, of course.

Unfortunately, Thaiger and almost all "news" organizations have done a major diservice to the people.  Singing from the narative song sheet can curry favor with tptb but do not expect any real journalism, let alone investigative journalism.  Where are all the dead and dying?  Have there been any autopsies?  What were there co- morbilities?  How to verify numbers in jail of this case-demic?  Do you just take everything the "Situation room" states at face value and wirhout question?  WHO disavowed pcr testing as the test provided a majority of false positives, why havent you reported this?  What is the cycle threshold of covid test here.  WHO  states it should be no greater than 28 cycles.  Why are treatments that have been tested and effectively proved, like ivermecton, being disparaged here, and yes there have been peer reviewed studies.  Your enthusiastic stories on the "vaccine" has no foundation.  IT IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE EXPERIMENTAL GENE THEARAPY.  But your lack of digging into adverse reations to this "jab" is more telling.  This brings us full circle to imunity from criminal prosecution.  Why would this even be neccessary and from what possible criminal actions.  Nuremburg 2.0 comes to mind and your "news" network will bear the weight of conscience for a job bordering on criminal.  OTHERWISE CALL YOURSELVES ENTERTAINMENT SO YOU CAN SKIRT ALL RESPONSABILITY IN THIS WAR ON THE MASSES.
