Covid 19 testing Question

Thaiger News posts daily positive test statistics.  The last numbers I saw was 17000+ per day.

1). What percent of PCR test return positive?

NOTE:  If 1 out of 100 tested positive, ( a high percentage I think) it would require 1,700,000 tests per day.  Is that even possible?

2) What PCR threshold is used in Thailand?

Thank you.

1) It depends on the area / group targeted. In a low risk area /group it's been 8 - 15%, medium 14 - 22%, and high as much as 44% (in one factory, IIRC, 80%).

2) There is no "national" threshold used in Thailand or anywhere else.  PCR thresholds are set by the manufacturers of the tests and vary between manufacturers depending on how the test parameters are designed (temperature, duration, etc).
