The Thaiger recently reported that some bars and clubs in Koh Samui continue to operate seemingly indifferent to Covid-19 restrictions in place without any masks or social distancing and during periods that nightlife was shut down nationally. Now the freedom from regulation on the island has come back to bite as 16 Covid-19 infections were found traced to one of the biggest clubs that has remained open. Authorities have put out an urgent plea for anyone who has attended the Black Bamboo Club in Chaweng between 16 and 26 July to report for Covid-19 testing immediately as they are at […]

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that, 3-400 maskless partygoers every single night is a recipe for disaster. The owner's excuse is even more pathetic calling his club a restaurant.

It was never a question if it could happen, but when.

"Dear Samui’s Facebook users and others,

I, Tinnakorn Poolsawad, owner of “The Black Bamboo Restaurant” at Chaweng Beach Koh Samui Surat Thani, want to explain to everyone that the restaurant was opened regularly to customers and has been filtering out Covid-19 by checking temperature, hand sanitisers, free masks for customers and ensure that all our staffs wear masks at all time."

Bull Sheet

'Bull Sheet' just about sums it up. Maybe Koh Samui is competing with Phuket to see who can reach somewhere around 500 positive cases before the end of August (assuming Samui can attract that many tourists).

Good that "Active case Fiding" thing is going on.  That will be very useful.

Has no one in Thai government heard of Grammarly.com?

What outbreak of Covid in Samui? Did anyone have any symptoms of any illness?  A positive test in itself means NOTHING - as admitted even by the WHO. Beer, coke, papaya, washing detergent, etc. have also tested positive. What kind of a "deadly disease" is it which you have to get tested to see if you have it or not??

You seem to be misinformed, there has been a steady trickle of tourists both from BKK and Phuket.

Yes, the cases were first found because they sought medical attention. You are spouting pure nonsense.

This is the problem when red zones (in this case Bangkok and nearby provinces) get more restrictions. Some people go back to their villages while those with money go someplace more fun, and thereby spreading the infections further. Samui has Bangkokians to thank for this outbreak.
