Following a concerning spike in Covid-19 cases this weekend, the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office reported that cases dropped today to 11, still worrisomely high. Of the 11 new infections, one was from a Phuket Sandbox international traveller, bringing the total number of Sandboxers infected to 22. The 11 new Covid-19 infections push Phuket past the 900 mark with a total of 904 infections since the beginning of the much more devastating third wave of Covid-19 in Thailand beginning in April. 145 people are currently in medical care while 784 have been released and 9 have died. Notably, the rolling […]

Maybe the Thai government will wake up and realise that the Thais themselves are spreading covid, and that double jabbed tourists are low risk.

Shows that double jabbed tourists are low risk, but I expect that the Thai government will blame the international traveller of infecting the other 10.

Have just had a big lightbulb moment on reading in this article that of 21 tourists infected / testing positive 16 of the positives were picked up on their second or third test. As the article suggests the likelihood is these people were infected on Phuket.

Would be very interested to how many of the 21 were fully re-imbursed by their mandatory Thai insurance providers. Also very interested to know how many have been quarantined on the back of the 21 and how many of those unfortunates' costs have been covered by their insurance?.

Would also be useful to understand whether those 16 people have, by virtue of their being found positive well into their 14 days, then found their Phuket stay  extended by a compulsory hospital stay and whether there is a minimum term for that?

Maybe vaccinating Phuket residents mostly with Sinovac wasn't the best idea now delta is here.

Try and get tested by a Phuket public hospital without severe symptoms, they won't. They just say, go home and isolate for 2 weeks. You have to go pay for the test and no Thai is going to afford 2500 THB. Great way to keep the declared local numbers down.

Who in their right mind,  believes a single word that these Thai local officials say?

Who in their right mind believes what any local governor,  or national politician says including the PM?

The infection rate is much higher I believe. 70% of the locals vaccinated with what? Sinovac, may aswell use tap water.

In their favour,  they are trying, but I feel they're p---ing in the wind.

Unless you have family commitments,  I cannot understand  why anyone would jump through so many hoops, and then place their own health at risk, and you can't  even have a social beer after 9pm.

It's going to get a lot worse too!

Of the 22 Sandboxers that have tested positive for Covid-19, 16 of them were on their second or third test, meaning they likely contracted it on the island.” -  everyone saw that one coming. It would still be good to find out what vaccines were used on those 22 tourists. It’s known information, why do they not want to let it out?

I wouldn’t say that’s a given. Some of the people coming in are from the Middle East which uses a lot of Sinovac and Sinopharm.

the "official " numbers will never be above what was announced as "the limit." Sandbox will remain. Shamsters in control of the stats.
