Officials in Pattaya have pledged to offer each registered family in the city 2,000 baht in financial aid, as a result of the Covid-19 crisis. The move comes as the hospitality and tourism sector, which accounts for around 80% of Pattaya’s GDP, continues to suffer as a result of the pandemic. With virtually no international tourism since April of last year and Thailand currently battling its worst wave of Covid-19 to date, there appears to be no light at the end of the tunnel. About good for a bus ticket home, or a sack of rice, water and some canned fish. Not enough for rent, electricity, water etc. Oops, forgot all busses and all transportation canceled from places in red zones.

Steady.....cooked rice can be had for 20 Baht still, village water is about 1 Baht a litre and why waste money when there is an abundance of fish pouring out of overflowing rivers into fields - as for lekky, many Thais use so little they don't actually have to pay a bill. The bus information is incorrect ?....even deep red zones can run on 50% capacity (care, they might have a problem crossing borders).

It was more tongue and cheek. Yes I have seen poor immigrants and Thai eat fish sauce with dry chili, vegetable they picked from the road side with the cheapest rice. flights in are still ok, and thought I read busses same or cancelled. Anyway, you are correct as if you are hungry food can be found outside if out of the city. But my point is it is virtually nothing to carry them ongoing, and more or less most will not be eligible to get it. But at least it is something.
