Have you ever experienced Thai time? Thai time seems to tick by at a totally different pace. Some people find it exasperating, others recognise it as part of the Thai ‘sabia sabia’ culture. And then there’s Thai paperwork. When efficiency sometimes takes second place, there’s still mounds of paperwork to fill out where red tape becomes a national sport. Jay, Tim and Ajarn Colin G will tackle the Thai time machine and sift through the paperwork. Your questions and comments are always welcome.

Thai time is no different to Spanish time or Mexican time.

I notice Thais are serious about time if a foreigner checks out of a hotel late, then they want extra money - pointing at their watches.

Sometimes being late is unavoidable, but these days anyone late should use a mobile phone and explain they will be late. If the appointment is in a bar, well it does not matter, but if it is something to do for business, it does. The way to cure those that are always late, is to wait 15 minutes and just leave.

I used to have a young lady who visited me in the mornings for English lessons. She always arrived on time because she was keen to learn. If Thais profit from being on time they will be there, and now this young lady can sing You gotta pick a pocket or two, from the musical Oliver all the way through in English!
