The governor of Pathum Thani, just north of Bangkok, is donating 3 months of his salary to support the community as Covid-19 cases rise. An announcement was recently made on a Facebook page run by the provincial government saying governor Chaiwat Chuenkosum donated his salary to help Pathum Thani residents. A Covid-19 hotline has been set up to help those who need assistance during the pandemic. Very commendable. Well done this governor. Thailand needs more like him.

Perhaps would be of greater benefit if he had donated 3 months of his income from all sources !!

Well done Governor. It would also be nice to see all the billionaires that seem to have grown substantially in wealth during the pandemic indicate what they are doing.

Billionaire?  Surely, not him. The Nation said the highest paid governor in the country made a tad over 74K baht a month, before "personal expenses".

That's why there's such rampant corruption in the country.  Pay a civil servant a shit wage, and he'll make his money using the government's machinery.

He should be commended, though, it's a great gesture.

He must be thrifty to be able to sacrifice 3 months' salary.

Lovely to see there is an honorable politician in the system. Hopefully all the way up to the PM will follow his leed.

They have enforced these hardships on their fellow people who most have now lost everything. Politicians are still being paid. Its about time they now forgo their salaries  to support those in need and do the Buddhist thing.
