The president of the Tourism Association of Koh Samui is paying great attention to how the Phuket sandbox scheme unfolds and hoping it succeeds. According to a Bangkok Post report, Ratchaporn Poolsawadee says the Samui Plus scheme could attract 2,000 guests in its first month if some rules can be eased. “Besides the virus situation on our islands and the whole country, we’re closely watching the situation in Phuket. If most inbound tourists to Phuket are free from Covid-19, we will propose more relaxations on Samui and 2 other islands in Surat Thani. Even though Phuket detected its first imported […]

Relax what rules? Two thousand a month is only like 67 per day and they plan on three flights per day. Wow. Yesterday Phuket got about 140 people and that’s with less restrictions. Good luck Samui

75 dead and 7058 new infections. And these are not the correct numbers as they are probably far greater than this.

There looks to be nothing will be opening but there will be a lot of closings coming very fast.

The number of infections will be far higher, probably at least 40x, because the vast majority of people who catch it are not affected badly enough to seek medical help.

In Thailand, in particular, people are incentivized to not report when they think they might have Covid because they don't want to get sent to one of the Covid concentration camps.

The number of deaths is almost certainly accurate. Anyone who gets that bad will have had some sort of medical contact and their death will be recorded.

In Phuket they changed the definition for vaccinated to having only one shot. Hence 70% vaccinated in Phuket.

Im assuming they changed it in Koh Samui too.

That's how I felt in late Jan 2020. Not that bad at all but the symptoms combined were never anything I had experienced in my life. lasted about 2 weeks and then I went to the Philippines 2 weeks after that to meet a friend meeting me from the USA for a 4 day holiday, then to come back here with him and then things turned sideways a week later and the borders were shut with restrictions. Wasn't that bad.
