2 suspected drug cartel leaders arrested in Surat Thani and Phuket

2 suspected drug cartel leaders whose operations were based in Europe were arrested in the southern provinces of Surat Thani and Phuket this morning. The suspects are Alek Karun, of German/Russian origin and Alexander Wolfien, a German national, says immigration Bureau chief Sompong Chingduang Alek was arrested at a luxury villa on the island of Koh Phangan, in the Surat Thani Province. Alexander was arrested at Rawai Beach, Phuket. The two suspects are allegedly the heads of a major drug cartel that provides drugs to gangs throughout Europe.
