Side-effect or part of BRI?  Cambodia has fallen into the trap, now Laos.

Whether we agree with the US stance or not, it's not difficult to visualise what's to come >

"An anonymous employee said that drugs, prostitutes, and illegal wildlife are all readily available inside. The United States declared the entire business network, including the Kings Romans Casino in the economic zone, to be a transnational criminal organisation. "

Check out Sihanoukville, Cambodia on Google and Youtube.

Also Tachileik, Burma - looks and sounds rosy but gambling, drugs and hotels are all Chinese operated, perhaps a bit tidier than Sihanoukville, but they ruin many lives, locals and Thai's alike.  Thai girl's working the hotels are well-paid though.

Yes business as usual, financed and operated by foreign criminal enterprises.  :(
