Never one for last-minute planning, the Thai government has announced just this afternoon plans for a month-long Colourful Phuket Festival launching tomorrow to welcome tourists back in the Phuket Sandbox that has been planned for months. Perhaps they sensed that international tourists who return to Phuket may be disappointed with the lack of activities while all bar and nightlife venues are closed indefinitely and some reports say as many as 80% of local businesses have shuttered. What? Are they serious?? Dont answer that. 

Can someone please tell them to focus on keeping the island free of covid and the few tourists likewise. If they somehow get that done for a month and the numbers increase, then definitely have a celebration in August.

Are the festivals for the tourists as they could name each festival after the tourists on the island, is it 28 events?
