Wonderful to see some positive thinking by the Government, after a long period of terrible decisions!

Whilst I agree with that sentiment, the proposals are neither here nor there.

1. 45 days is nothing. Should be a minimum of 60 days - and multiple entry.

2. Same for visa exempt entries (which don't seem to be mentioned anywhere.

That said, Thailand's 30 day visa exempt trump's many other Asian countries - Vietnam 15 days, Cambodia visa required for any visit.

In this article we can read that the Thai 'government'  will come to their mind an sense and finally declare Covid 19 as endemic (about the last country in the world?). In an another today's article on this website about Covid we can read that on 1 October the situation will not be declared as endemic 🤔🤪

It’s a step in the right direction.

Now the government needs to review all the other visas and make it much easier for expats to retire there. The Kingdom needs to start attracting large numbers of retirees for example. This can be done by for example, allowing them to own a house/bungalow/villa and the plot it stands on in their name, yes with a limit on land size even if it’s just half a Rai.

Trying to attract only the very rich, just is not going to happen, nor is it going to contribute significant financial growth for the Kingdom. IMO Significant funds will only come from quantity.

Qualification should for example, only depend on:

Having a sensible income. (Enough to live on)

Having medical insurance.

Being of good character. (No criminal record)

just my opinion.

Yup. But they prefer to attract 10.000 millionaires instead of 1 million retirees. The retirees will each spend like 2k euro per month, on average. Which adds up to 2 billion euro per month. The millionaires may each spend 10k or more, but that only adds up to 100 million euros per month.

The article actually means permission of stay for Visa exempt entries increased to 45 days from October 1st.

I know, I know, unfortunately the journalists don't know their knee from their elbow.  🥺

Despite all efforts, I am unable to find this new 'Regular' Visa listed on any Thai Embassy websites. (Sarcasm).
