Quiz #92

We handle them and spend them every day, but how much do you know about them? Good luck, folks.

Indeed, but true. I wonder if any Norwegian Krone banknotes have Thai scenes on them 🤣🤔

I can't find anything on Google why it is on there

3/5, not really good.

Since the Norway thing got me curious:

The reverse of the note illustrates the portraits of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (King Rama V) and his royal trip to visit Haakon VII of Norway in Norway; the image shows himself riding in the car with Sam Eyde in Notodden, Norway;

4 out of 5, Norway got me too.

Does anyone agree that they need a note higher then 1000 Baht?

My brother in law once won 500k on the lottery and the bank handed him notes the size of a house brick.

Similarly seen a monk deposit what I would estimate, based on the above, was about 10 million baht.

Suppose it's all about money laundering nowadays and not convenience.

4/5.... I cheated on the question about Norway, I checked all my bills and the only likely one was the 100b bill when riding in a car.

I agree it would make sense for convenience. Seems too low for the highest denomination. I’ve heard three arguments for not introducing a higher denomination:

1. Criminals and money launderers like the big denominations.

2. Higher denominations make it easier to avoid tax when using “super notes” to pay contractors etc.

3. Consumers (apparently) spend more  if they have multiple notes rather than one note of the same value.

Maybe one of these (or a combination of all three) is a factor on Thailand’s stance?

Pathetic 3/5, need to start looking more closely at money --if I can get some from the wife before she spends it.
