"Tour companies suggested that the government increase the duration applying to both the visa-on-arrival, and for those who apply for a tourism visa ahead of time, from 15 to 45 days and 30 to 45 days.

The tour companies feel that suspending the visa fees and extending their possible length of stay would attract more international travellers to the Land of Smiles."

If ever there was a country that would benefit from a 'Laissez Faire' entrance policy, it is Thailand. Instead, the people making decisions pile on more and more idiotic bureaucratic nonsense to assuage their paranoid fears that someone is out to get them.

Yep. The fewer/lower the barriers, the easier the flow. Truth is Thailand has always been relatively easy when it comes to getting tourist visas. Making it easier won't hurt.

Europe and Latin American countries issue a 90 day visa on arrival. Why is it only 30 days in Thailand ? Makes no sense.

Thailand allows visa exempt entry to many people.....that can be extended by 30 days for 1,900 Baht.

Try entering Europe as a Thai for 30 days, let alone 90 day.
