Nuclear power generation, nuclear fuel production, nuclear enrichment, and reprocessing, is forbidden in Australia by the EPBC Act of 1999. All nuclear material, for example the one used at the OPAL reactor for nuclear medicine in Lucas Heights, is usually flown to France for processing.

The headline is rather inaccurate: The Morrison government wasn't conservative, in fact it didn't stand for anything at all. It was just a marketing machine that aped this or that fashion or fad. It deserved to lose the election.

Like Scotland & Canada, Australia persist in re-electing the tyrannical anti- freedom tree huggers / identity politicians, despite all reason & performance indicating otherwise. Conservatives need to be credible & electable though as UK in Dec 2019. 

Scotland has been run into the ground in all areas by its devolved parliament run by “ one trick” extremist Nationalist / Green alliance, (since 2008?) re-elected by 1.5 million minority hardcore idiots. Poverty Health Education Transport Crime Drugs metrics reduced to lowest levels in western world. These Voters blinded by irrational hatred for anything “ English” like (more rational) Conservative & Labour Parties.

Before you make generalizations, at least make an effort to understand Australia election results.  Labour has a tentative victory more because voters preferred women of integrity and rejected the inconsistent Liberals.  Only 4% more voters picked Labour.   This is the election where women spoke, and where independet women candidates made a difference.  Australians elected a large number of independents all of whom are experienced, educated women. They ran on  platforms of integrity in government in addition to the climate. The climate policy reflected a nation devastated by wildfire, drought and flash floods and not "crazy environmentalists". Look at who some of the projected winners  are; Sydney GP, Sophie Scamps. She was a practicing physician with a good grasp of social and health conditions; Kylea Tink, a middle aged  business person who has experience in a  national communications company and  with an extensive history  volunteering for health charities; Monique Ryan, another older women GP with a long time  work record in public health medicine; Zali Steagall,  an olympic athlete,solicitor and experienced MP; Kate Chaney, a senior executive at the Anglican Church's  Anglicare social services entity and Zoe Daniel, former foreign correspondent at  ABC who has made government integrity her primary goal.   None of these people is a left wing zealot. They are all women who have had experience with families and the need for  budgets to manage family expenses. They have a much better grasp of the  problems and needs of Australians than the typical MP does. Australians voted in some rather remarkable high quality MPs and these women will hopefully make a difference if Albanese is in a minority position.

Morrison was the one who made climate  a do or die issue. He described modest and reasonable proposals as  "extremist".  He's the one who "weaponized" the climate and the grenades he was throwing bounced back and blew up on him. What's amazing  is the number of top quality women now in a position to make a difference.

Why did this phenomenon only just happen ? and,  

What were this number of quality rational women waiting for previously ? 

Why are the Conservative Politicians so Poor, within a traditional “frontier” type nation producing so many “hard” common- sense conservative types ?

Don't know about Canada, but as I live here I would not make that claim regards Australia. Whether the females elected as alleged 'independents' can actually make a difference for the good of Australia is currently a complete unknown.

As usual the Thaiger gets the facts wrong. Labor looks like winning a absolute majority in the lower house which is a swing to them not away from them. The big swing was away from the conservatives to greens and independants. In the upper house there was a swing to Labor and the Greens party which should allow them to follow their past agreements and again have a majority so they can pass legislation unimpeded by independants or conservatives. It's actually a win for the Labor side and a win for independants and a massive loss for the conservative right. 

The conservatives led by Morrison got exactly what they deserved their performance during the pandemic has be woeful they screwed up at every turn and acted when forced to by the state governments making them look bad. The state governments were forced to take over most of the federal government's responsibilities to keep the virus out and control it when it got in until the federal government final got vaccines months after every other country in the western world. Morrison was a shower of sh*t to busy trying to put out a good public image instead of getting anything done. Most of the seats they lost in the election were previously regarded as safe seats for them in the conservative heartland and they mostly went to greens and independants. The funniest part was the UAP which spent 100 million dollars on their campaign to get the anti-mask, anti-Vax, anti-mandate, conspiracy theory, freedumb vote. They lost the one seat they had and look like being beaten for the two senate seats that they might have a chance at, by the legalise marijuana party who are a bunch of stoner's that spent nothing on their campaign.

Women this, women that. What difference does it make whether this or that politician has a crack or not? The best person should get the job, regardless of the anatomy of their genitalia.

The shift to Labour was less than 4%. Hardly a rousing endorsement. It was teal independents and to lesser extent greens who gained the interest and support. I don't think any western democracy has seen such an embrace of independent candidates before. IMO it speaks to the advanced democracy of Australia where  an individual's election platform was considered rather than the sectarian politics seen in other countries where it is  a choice of only  two shades of one colour. And I don't recall ever seeing a collection of as well qualified independents in other democracies.  Yes there are all sorts of fractured factions in dysfunctional democracies like Italy and Israel, but Australia smashed it out of the stadium when it elected so many people who have clean reputations and are less political nasties like Scotland's Sturgeon or hypocritical front's like Sinn Fein's Michelle O'Neill. And I doubt they will be disconnected robots like Dr. Merkel.
