IMO a classic compo scam which may be dismissed by inflight advice "keep your seatbelt securely fastened at all times".

He should be happy that the plane was still in the air and didn't crash thanks to the turbulence.

There's no mention in both the original source and this article whether the man has the seat belt fastened or not. The original says there was some sort of turbolence and the plane dropped from air, and he was injured in the back, but usually the most common injury in someone without seat belt is head injury by bumping against the overhead. It make me think probably his seat belt was fasten quite loose, hence the back pain from the air pocket situation and the subsequent counteraction upon sitting back violently. Sorry for him, but even in this situation the airline couldn't be held accountable. By the way, it's easy to find the airline; the only plane landing at around that time from NST to BKK is the Vietjet 335.

It's called a "seat belt"!  It only one of the reasons they have them on airplanes. Unstable air is not always predictable. Your responsibility.

They have no responsibility for this kind of incident.   Its part of flying, that's why they provide seat belts and tell passengers to wear them at all times when seated.
