News Forum - Brazilian student arrested in Bali for smuggling cannabis from Thailand
Nope, the stupidity of a Brazilian traveler did! If you are travelling to SEA but have no clue, that Indonesia is a "conservative" Muslim country, with harsh drug laws, you better don't get a passport to travel outside your country. You did not even look up your holiday destination! How many non Indonesian people got highlighted, in the medias over the past years, for drugs in Indonesia? If you did not get the death sentence discussion, you better stay home! Since it seems only for personal use, he won't have to fear death. Just some years in prison. But his country can get him out, early Oh shite, in Brazil it is not even "really" legal!- 1

News Forum - Thailand Tourism to Boom, is it Asia’s Amsterdam? | Weekend Update
No need to be confused, Marble-eye, it's a quote from the link which you haven't read. Further: "But the number of Americans who use cannabis heavily is soaring. In 2006, about 3 million Americans reported using the drug at least 300 times a year, the standard for daily use. By 2017, that number had increased to 8 million—approaching the 12 million Americans who drank every day. Put another way, only one in 15 drinkers consumed alcohol daily; about one in five marijuana users used cannabis that often. And they are consuming cannabis that is far more potent than ever before, as measured by the amount of THC it contains. THC, or delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, is the chemical responsible for the drug’s psychoactive effects. In the 1970s, most marijuana contained less than 2% THC. Today, marijuana routinely contains 20–25% THC, thanks to sophisticated farming and cloning techniques, and to the demand of users to get a stronger high more quickly. In states where cannabis is legal, many users prefer extracts that are nearly pure THC." The topic is about Thailand, not the US. Completely different patterns of availability and consumption. For starters, extracts of that strength remain illegal in LoS. -

Ukraine/Russian Conflict - General Discussion
Yes and no. I think most of those assets are still frozen and not technically seized. Western media seems to think those two terms are one in the same. The American's did allow Russia to pay back some bonds out of those assets for a while (American bonds of course hahaha). That's now stopped. Will Russia get the money back was hotly debated at the time with a surprising number of constitutional law experts pointing out it's highly likely. Of course the idea of using frozen assets to pay of a legal debt is very Western. It probably wouldn't be hard for Ukraine to make a claim and win in international court either.
