News Forum - Foreigners may have to pay more for hotels than Thais
I can't understand some Thai thinking - house and car f/sale prices are always inflated, especially houses. Private cars can often be seen advertised at more than new price, eg a 13 month old Fortuner appeared as if they'd added insurance, service and detailing costs to the ask As for hotel prices, most big hotels are owned (or co-owned) and managed by Westerners and they would capitalise by discounting to draw custom away from Thai owned (smaller) hotels and guest houses if they attempted raising prices. My guess... there is no going back now. But do or don't, it won't affect me in the least. There was no shortage on ganja availability (before legalization). However, Thailand knows there is money to be made (business and tax revenue). Which is the main reason they let the genie out of the bottle to begin with, I believe. And if they can't figure out how to take advantage of that opportunity, they only have themselves to blame. One thing is certain... supporters and critics are going to keep pushing their own claims.- 1
