French nationals living in Thailand, who are 55 and older, can now register for a Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine. The Embassy of France in Thailand has organised a vaccination campaign for French nationals, providing the single-dose Covid-19 vaccine for free. The costs are subsidised by the French government. The campaign starts today and will end next month. Inoculations will be administered at 8 Bangkok Hospital locations including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin, Pattaya, Phuket, Khon Kaen, Koh Samui, and Udon Thani. French expats will need to show their passport or national identity card (CNI), even if it is expired. […]

We all hope that the US embassy and government will do the same for their expatriates!

Despite of petitions and letters sent to the US government there has not been a single reply or action.

The French government is a very good example on how a government or country should take care and treat their expatriates.

Yes also considering that US Citizens living abroad are one of only 2 countries in the world that have to file and pay federal income taxes every year due to the draconian practice of citizen based taxation. So essentially they are paying for the free extra donated vaccines that other countries will get before they themselves can even obtain an effective vaccine (and will have to pay for) in Thailand. I don't consider the Sinovac or Astra nearly as effective as Pfizer/Moderna. Shameful!!

The French Ambassador, Thierry Mathieu, also said that none of the staff in the Embassy had been vaccinated because all French in Thailand were treated as equal.   This is the right thing to do and the correct policy.

We could do with a bit of that 'all French in Thailand were treated as equal' policy to apply to everyone in this country.

Yes, chance would be a fine thing! Guess who was one of the first people in Thailand to get his 2 vaccine shots - treated as equal? . . . the very idea would put him off his caviar dinner.

As per post in Australian Embassy  "The Australian Embassy in Thailand is compiling this list to assist Australians who are 75 years or older, and in Bangkok or able to travel to Bangkok, to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Note, however, that submitting this form does NOT guarantee that you will be able to access a COVID-19 vaccine."

Big difference to French Embassy efforts.....i guess they have some spare sent to Thailand.

Why not cooperate with France,  allow  paid by each patient  vaccine .. .even if   Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine is  or not approved inside Australia.

Its about health  not  present location.

Well done France. Wish I could say the same to the UK but obviously they have decided to ignore their nationals in Thailand. Lets hope we don't inadvertantly bring a new strain back to the home country when we return as un vaccinated travellers.
