On Monday — the first day of the “Seven Deadly Days of the Songkran” — there were 237 vehicle accidents, killing 26 people and injuring 238 others. Speeding is the biggest problem so far. Thailand’s road-safety campaign spans the week of the Thai New Year, from April 11 to 17, during which vehicle accidents are notoriously common. Of the total, 45% of accidents occurred on roads of the Highway Department and 30% on roads under the jurisdiction of tambon administration organisations. The great majority, about 84%, occurred on straight roads.

Maybe the Thai Government should remove all straight roads in Thailand, which would then assist the Thai drivers.

I wonder where the the remaining 25% took place

Two things...

First... what are the statistics for non Songkran days... that way you can measure the impact of Songkran as cause of the "deadly days"

Second... Nearly a 20% arrest or citation rate could easily be the norm for Thailand on any given day
