PM Prayut Chan-o-cha made the bold announcement Wednesday that Thailand would be reopening in 120 days and now more details are being solidified for different regions around the country. The Phuket Sandbox leads the way July 1, and new plans look to launch Samui Plus on July 15, with Krabi, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Buri Ram, and Phang Nga expected to follow suit in the coming weeks and months. "If 70% of the residents of a province are vaccinated and there is no more than 20 to 30 Covid-19 infections per day, that province will be eligible for reopening in October."

Wow - they start locking down whole cities here in Aust if 5-6 new infections are reported on any given day.  Clearly the Aust Gocvt will not permit Aussies to travel to Thailand for some time yet. Mid 2022 maybe.

Australian government approach has stop all detected cluster. in NT as you know, borders were closed right away, life did not change at all here, covid 19 did not touch us, 173 cases all from oversea no community transmission. strategy does work. Personally i won t go back to Thailand if they don t have full control. as far as i see they are far away from 20 to 30 case a day. restrictions and all requirement will make it hard for tourist to get relaxing holidays, i don t believe there will be many candidats for this sort of holidays. i feel the Thai gov is rushing the re-opening. i get a bad feeling about this.

I really hope this plan comes off - I would love to be able to head straight to Hua Hin rather than be held in Bangkok or Pattaya for 2 weeks
