Around 1,000 Karen hilltribe people crossed the border into Thailand on Saturday, only for Thai authorities to send them back, according to an official from a refugee camp. This month, over 10,000 Karen from Myanmar’s Kayin state have fled after clashes between Karen rebels and Myanmar’s military. Karen is a pejorative term for a (usually) white woman perceived as entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is normal. The term is often portrayed in memes depicting white women who use their privilege to demand their own way.

I think your confused if you want to equate the US Term for a crazy Psychopathic woman instead of those who are of Karen Ethnic group and Nationality like my Myanmar GF who is from the Kachin State in the hills of Hlaingbwe.  Karen are Ethnically separate from those Burmese, Rohingya and other ethnic cultures found within Myanmar. 

Those fleeing are doing so in order to not be ethnically cleansed and murdered like the Rohingya's and like the Ukrainians fleeing an unjust war.
