A prominent Thai virologist says blood tests should be used to determine the percentage of the population that has been infected with Covid-19. This is particularly the case with the now-dominant Omicron variant. However, at the top of the pyramid, are the Covid patients who are severely ill with the virus. These include the elderly and people with underlying health conditions.

The story with blood tests upfront would have helped a lot for the vaccination initiatives last year. At times of not enough vaccines, it could have helped to focus on the people in need. The then already symptomless infected ones could have easily waited a bit longer. Now, with more and more vaccines available, it is needing resources, unnecessarily, methinks. There are almost 60 mill first doses given, 50 mill sec. doses and 20+ mill boosters. Now they wanna test the unvaccinated? Or want they test out, who got covid, even in the vaccinated population? And can they separate the Antibodies from vaccination from the ones from infection?
