Following in the steps of a number of other Southeast Asian nations, Indonesia is lifting all quarantine requirements for international arrivals in a bid to revive its tourism industry. International arrivals will still need a negative PCR test result before travel. The move follows a trial period of 2 weeks, during which quarantine-free travel was introduced on the islands of Bali, Batan, and Bintan. According to a Bloomberg report, the number of Covid-19 infections remained low during the trial and the country appears to have passed the peak of the Omicron wave. The daily infection rate has dropped over 90% […]

Great news. Just the pre-departure test then. Was planning to go to Thailand and Indonesia in the April / May period. I think I’ll skip Thailand until they work out what they’re doing.

I am afraid that the authorities in Thailand need to learn it the hard way (well, mainly it's not them but the tourism industry suffering).

Many travellers will take the same decision for the time being. Now with no more Russians coming in substantial numbers Thailand should do the utmost to attract those that consider travelling to SE Asia. The pain of going through this T&G-nonsense might be just the tipping point for many to skip Thailand. It seems, in the eyes of the authorities, to at least partly remedy the economic hardship of the last two years is not an important factor. Sad.

Wow. Indonesia setting the ASEAN standard. Preflight PCR testing only. No vax and no insurance requirements, is putting everyone else to shame.

One would have the return to Thailand hoop jump. Pre flight test, then another 5 days after return with the threat of getting shunted into a hospital visit. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy just thinking about that.

Still as Indo is my country of choice, for SEA travel, we are getting closer.

Definitely, no Thailand this year and perhaps next year. It's nice to have some other options that don't include all the silly game playing. Now to decide on Bali, Cambodia, or Vietnam.

I wonder who's vaccine they used predominantly in Indonesia?

Chinese crap. But they know most tourists have proper stuff and that’s why they are letting them in. They know they are not the problem.

But the tourists will be the problem, as the travel through the country with their 'superior' vaccines they probably will not know they have the virus as they probably will have no symptoms due to the vaccine, the locals on the other hand with an inferior vaccine will be susceptible to serious illness or death.

And the locals don’t already have it and spreading it around just as tourists do? More locals will have it than tourists
