The health facilities will be developed in line with world standards to place Phuket as a top destination for medical tourism, according to the prime minister’s spokesperson, Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana. 1.411 Billion Baht.  The scammers are drooling already.

They want world standards and probably will try to build to world standards but will end up with Chinese copies, a few in jail and the top 10 in Thailand richer.

55555   The money will go to the Phuket mafia.

Why not clean up the corruption first, then make the island into something people like and want to come to.

Good news for Phuket.

It has been vastly improved over the last twenty years with new shopping centres, hotels etc which have gradually replaced the seedier side of the island, most of the girly bars have been replaced, it gets better every year.

Could spend the entire budget on sanitation (cleaning up the streets and beaches) and drug/crime interdiction, and it still wouldn't be world class

So about 114 Rai on a whim to make somehting World Class. Their definiton of world class better not mean following it with (world class) "my a-rse". Seems like a lot more public money being tossed away for something that is not needed and more than likely will be built and then degrade to be abandoned. They may be better off buying one more inferior CCP submarine without a motor.

These people that you mention probably don't realize the corruption / mafia at work in Phuket.  I hate going to Phuket just because of the mafia there.  If they would clean this up (as Pinocchio stated he would) then it would be a better place to vacation in and might become "world class" tourist location.

The corruption and belligerence in Phuket makes it so many people that go never come back.
