Ukraine/Russian Conflict - General Discussion
Russian ammunition going up left and right: Enemy ammunition detonated in the Henichesk district, Kherson region, near Russian-occupied Crimea, early on Tuesday, August 9. Russian ammunition detonated for over one-and-a-half hours at an experimental station (roughly speaking, between Partyzany [Rykove] and Novooleksiivka). He added that the Henichesk district is located on the administrative border with Crimea. Now there are no more safe areas for Russian forces in the Kherson region, he said. According to the Kherson-based Most news site, local Telegram channels of the self-proclaimed regional "authorities" explained that the explosion in Henichesk district this morning had been provoked by "safety violations." https://www.ukrinform.net/rubric-ato/3546789-enemy-ammunition-detonates-near-henichesk.html In the temporarily occupied Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia region, explosions rang out at the occupiers' military base at night and in the morning. "This morning, explosions rang out again. Smoke was seen above the military base of the occupiers which had been already destroyed. It is attacked for the fourth time," Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov said during the nationwide news telethon, Ukrinform reports. Fedorov added that yesterday up to 10 loud explosions had been rocking the western part of the city for two hours from 22:30. https://www.ukrinform.net/rubric-ato/3546585-explosions-rock-destroyed-russian-base-in-melitopol.html Loud blasts have been reported at a military base in Crimea, a Ukrainian peninsula Russia annexed in 2014. The blasts were in the western village of Novofedorivka, said Oleg Kruchkov, an adviser to the Moscow-installed regional head. Three local witnesses told Reuters they had seen black smoke rising from the direction of the airstrip. The cause of the blasts was not immediately known, but Russia's defence ministry said ammunition was detonated. Footage has emerged on social media purportedly showing people on a beach watching plumes of smoke rising from the direction of Novofedorivka. Russia-appointed Crimea head Sergei Aksyonov said he was going to the area. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/ukraine-war-explosions-hit-russia-annexed-crimea/ar-AA10tNJ5?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=88254e8dde924c4195e16376920ac396 No place safe is right. -

Ukraine/Russian Conflict - General Discussion
Might be more than you think: Ukraine’s most advanced MiG-29 Fulcrum jet fighter, the uniquely upgraded MiG-29MU2, is still active and, based on a recent video, very likely still taking part in the air battle against Russian aircraft and cruise missiles. At least 11 MiG-29s of all versions have been confirmed as destroyed in the fighting so far, based on open-source data, from a reported total fleet of around 50 before the current conflict. It’s worth noting, too, that recent reports suggest that Ukraine may have inducted at least three additional MiG-29s from Azerbaijan to boost its fleet. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/ukraines-uniquely-upgraded-mig-29-fulcrum-is-back Of course this doesn't count the planes the US shipped over in parts, or any other planes sent shall we say anonymously. No doubt they have lost more than eleven. At the same time they have enough to keep Russia from getting air superiority and to be bombing Russian units. -

News Forum - Thailand’s hotels are short on workers
Same in Europe and the UK. Hotels got rid of staff in the pandemic and they all found they could get easier jobs paying more money elsewhere. Hotels worldwide need to up their wages and working conditions even if that means upping their prices or cutting their profits a bit.- 1
