2,331 new Covid-19 cases and an uptick of 40 coronavirus-related deaths were reported today by the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration. In the latest and most severe wave of Covid-19 infections, 175,732 cases have been recorded since April 1. While the daily case count remains high, the wave of infections is on a downward slope with the number of recent recoveries higher than the number of new infections. 4,947 more people have recovered from the coronavirus, according to the CCSA. Hmm! . . . there's a thinker?

Today:         2,331 new cases         40 Covid-19 related deaths        i.e. deaths to cases ratio = 1:58

Yesterday   3,000 new cases         19 deaths                                       i.e. deaths to cases ratio = 1:158

Unless I'm missing something pretty obvious and fundamental, towards explaining this vastly higher proportion, i.e. 272% higher, of today's deaths, compared to yesterday's, then these figures must surely be questionable, if not wholly inaccurate.

Surely, given that there is still a significant wave of Covid infection, there should be a reasonably similar proportion of deaths to new cases, each day.

Come on, someone, tell me what I'm not seeing, or get on that hotline to the Public Health Ministry or CCSA and tell them to get a new calculator . . . or maybe a new person that's playing with the calculator.

I am expat working in  Thailand so disappointed in the quality of indepth journalism and reporting across all media outlets.

Sorry to hear that. Let's hope this forum manages to improve on that pretty dismal view.
