Thailand’s Public Health Minister says the country needs to balance economic recovery with the need to protect public health. Anutin Charnvirakul was addressing a Bangkok Post conference yesterday when he said striking the right balance is a priority for the government. Covid-19 infection numbers are currently soaring as a result of the highly-contagious Omicron variant, but Anutin expects the infection rate to start dropping soon. Once that happens, he says the government will review measures, taking into account the Covid situation globally. “After the Omicron infections reach their peak and case numbers drop, with more international travellers, Thailand will devise […]

Seriously?

If you have had 2 Vaccines and a booster and 1 PCR test?

What threat are you to Thailand , other that what is already here?

Get rid of testing on arrival for fully vaccinated or 3 Vaccine people who have already done PCR test?

Only unvaccinated should have to face all the scrutiny!

Even unvaccinated Thais are not made to have tests?

so what is it with Tourists?

Scam on Money making out of COVID?

This now looks and sounds nothing more like a PR grooming for a first run for the PM-ship since el Fathead has reached an all time low. If not it must be an attempt to bolster more support from within for them in the now chaotic fighting of the parties. If he was really serious about protecting public health with having an economic recovery, then the need to clean the house starting at the top is necessary. Until then the people are going to economically suffer hard.

"while asymptomatic patients or those with only mild symptoms can self-isolate at home.". That's not true, technically. A French national who got COVID & asymptomatic got ripped off out of B114K by forced him to go to hospital instead of AQ Hotel last week in Bangkok, this is what Thailand been doing for the past 2 months and been saying that "this is the law in Thailand" by forcing asymptomatic COVID incoming tourists to hospital and scammed them out of their insurance.

Exactly. Just a crude power play to keep control and focus on him.

One would think. But mixing of power by mirrors. Anutin will never sit on a certain council.

This is his dream but he has not that popularity needed in the public in a election because of his covid management performance. He got more bargain power inside the coalition and against the ruling party or to make new alliances when Pinocchio and his sinking ship ruling party is then under the water. It is very clearly which 2 Parties will win by landslides next elections.

I think the ulitmate may just lie in the unforseen manipulation powers that can virtually wash anything. If you get my drift.

The resignation of Saengsuwan yesterday shows the coalition is collapsing and all the former quittings of all the mps from the ruling party is they have no more any bargaining power or a chance to survive in votings in the parliament. It was already a patt situation after ruling mps left but with the resignation with Saengsuwan and what he said about it in the parliament that others will follow and already named some, so it is done. Woodsome (I think you know who he is) also said something similiar 2 days ago that he (Prayut) will be  hijacked.

Dr Anutin is 90% politician first, then 10% physician. Politicians' 1st priority is to avoid being blamed and ousted. That's why they just FOLLOW FOLLOW FOLLOW career-safe guidance from Infallible Entities (WHO CDC FDA) irregardless...

Dr Manoon L is 0% politician. That's why his proposal will work better.

Hi Stardust,

Yes I understand what you are saying, but I really think it is more complicated than what you are reading into it for here. There are internal conflicts for sure, and which might be a big religning for political  stability, but the big thing is there is always a certain council of generals behind the scene who manipulate and control things who are never ever going to go away. So everyone must kowtow in a way or so for what is told or ordered. El Fathead may leave but he will more than likely just go sit in his cushy chair with all the other blowhards. Change is a very very hard thing to do here, but if there is a place to start, then it would need to be upwards a bit more. Anyway, I think they are sending Anutin into the ring as their chameleon puppet.
