Taiwan plans to relax its strict COVID-19 quarantine policy beginning in March, in order to reopen to the world and gradually resume normal life, the government said on Tuesday. While it is the prerogative of ever country to set their own rules, there is increasing competition in the tourism industry to attract visitors. It's a balancing act. Risk and reward.

Taiwan is probably the most beautiful island country in East Asia... except for Japan. When I look at the map, I understand why other countries in Asia and the West are hesitant to openly defend Taiwan. It's really on its own, too far away away from both Southeast Asia, the Korean Peninsula and Japan, and New Zealand and Australia for any other those countries to launch a successful defense the island, were it to be attacked by the mainland. All help would have to be from naval forces and fighter jets with no ground to land on besides a few floating battleships under threat of Chinese submarines. Even without aggression, the US is already fumbling its jets into the South China Sea. Defending Taiwan is a worthy cause for lovers of Democracy and human rights. But it's by no means a practical feat. Pray for the Chinese communist leaders to have a change of heart and bless Taiwan by acknowledging its independence. This is certainly the best path of least resistance and most mutual benefit.

10 days? Come on, maybe it’s good for expats returning but for tourism that’s not going to work.

It's like someone saying that they are going to stop kicking you in the balls...and instead just kick one ball.
