"When enacted, all Internet traffic in Cambodia will be routed through the government-run National Internet Gateway, allowing authorities to monitor online activity, intercept and censor digital communications, and collect users’ personal data.? Nothing to worry about - no different than in the US, Europe, Australia or Canada.

If the Cambodian Gov. does nothing the intl. Lynchmob will claim that Cambodia is a heaven for Internet Fraud, Child Sex Exploitation, Crypto Gangsters and Chinese Human and Drug Traffickers. In order to keep a certain level of Security in the Country Cambodia has decided to do the right step. Of course foreign funded NGO like the mentioned Licadho-Cambodia.org which is one of the most prominent defenders of the US driven Regime Change don't like this new Internet Gateway and dispise it as much as they did the NGO Transparency Law Lango because they as most other foreign funded NGO like Human Rights Watch and the currently under scrutiny in Thailand Amnesty Intl. hate nothing more than being transparent.

Needless to say that there is almost zero censorship of the Internet in Cambodia to this very day. Very different to China, Myanmar and even Thailand. Perhaps the Critics will take not of that point.

Phone scammers targeting Thais come under joint Thai – Cambodia crack down

The rise of scam calls targeting Thai people has led to a collaborative effort between the Royal Thai Police and Cambodian authorities in busting scam centers in Cambodia.

Thailand’s Minister of Digital Economy and Society Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn thanked Cambodian authorities for probing into the groups of phone scammers operating in Cambodia. The scammers target phone users in Thailand.

Mr. Chaiwut said the governments of Thailand and Cambodia will be escalating their efforts against these scammers, with a Memorandum of Understanding expected to be signed.

On the preventative measures, Mr. Chaiwut said the officials are now looking into feasible options, but admitted that it was difficult to block their operations across various available communication channels.

He said Thai banks will be sending out warning messages and notifications to alert phone users about possible scam calls and texts. NNT/Pattaya Mail

Cambodia blocks 15 illegal lottery websites

The Telecommunications Regulator of Cambodia has blocked 15 new internet sites, most of them originating from Vietnam, including the popular Vietnamese lottery website Vina24h.

The Telecommunications Regulator of Cambodia says it will continue to cooperate with the National Police, relevant authorities and all telecom operators to eliminate all domain names that operate and provide illegal online gambling and lottery services and circulars. These blockings are based on the guideline of the Royal Government No. 07, dated 18 August 2019, on strengthening the management of the electronic gambling business through the Internet, online, domestic and foreign, as well as any other domain name that operates illegally in Cambodia.

The goal is to participate in maintaining security, public order and social order.

The Telecommunications Regulator of Cambodia also calls on the public to report to the Telecommunications Regulator of Cambodia at 6789 during business hours or on Facebook: “Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia” and provide details of any online gambling services, illegal lotteries and the posting of child pornographic images and videos in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
