Tourism operators in Pattaya are not holding out much hope of a mass return of foreign arrivals in the first few months after re-opening. Pattaya has been chosen as the first non-island location to re-open to vaccinated foreign tourists, but operators fear the constant indecision and changes to regulations will have a negative impact. Thanet Supornsahasrungsi from the Chon Buri Tourism Council predicts that only 30,000 – 40,000 foreign tourists will arrive between August and October, the first months of the re-opening. “The early stages of re-opening will not attract many leisure tourists as it’s low season here and some […]

“Tourists must travel to designated places escorted by operators” - screw that. Deal killer for sure. They are not going to get tourists with that restriction. If they can’t get tourists the business won’t reopen which will keep tourists away. Vicious circle. If those restrictions remain till I return, I’d go to Phuket for the first week and travel to Pattaya after (by then Phuket might reduce the stay from 14 to 7). Use the rules against themselves.

Those people in Thailand dont understand that an european or american or any other person beside chinese dont want to be treated like a prisoner in their holidays. And you can travel in europe as vacinated person without any restrictions.

This Thanet can see that Thailand will miss out if they keep delaying opening, and impose restrictions.

Thailand has to take the risk. Egypt is open to all that are vaccinated without petty rules, and their vaccination rate is 2.86%.

Thailand's vaccination rate is 6.49%.

Thailand should take the risk or prepare for a new dark age of poverty.

Not only tourists will shun Thailand but so will investors.

Can we choose the operator who is supposed to escort us?

Ha-ha, indeed! . . . great question! And regarding Pattaya's re-opening, we can only advise you to recheck any available TAT info, every fortnight . . . or month maybe!

Could be fun if we could! I'll start trawling the escort sites ?

I do not think those were the escorts they intended for this work Jayce.

Hi, guiseppe and welcome to T-T!

And what an excellent inaugural post! Just so sad regarding the situation that has led to those thoughts . . . so understandable.

During the last 3 months, i have read and been told of so many different scenarios for Pattaya.

Tourists can only and will only return when it is deemed safe for this to happen. As long as all of the bars and restaurants and other entertainment hotspots are closed which includes the golf courses there is little hope of tourism.

My answer is to allow everyone that is fully vaccinated to enter Pattaya unhindered and reopen all of the tourism immediately.

On arrival at the airport or else where in Payttaya you must be able to prove that you have been fully inoculated.

Workers within the hospitably industries and other tourism areas in Pattaya must be prioritized and vaccinated as a matter of urgency.
