The most ridiculous thing about these deaths is the drivers still believe it is not their fault and  will never face the full force of the law because the numerous fatalities caused on the road is not a priority..

Jail them and compensate the families of the dead and major police attention has to be used to change drivers attitudes..

Zebra crossings were invented as a safe place for people to cross the road without having to install traffic lights to ensure vehicles stopped and improve the flow of traffic. That's the purpose. In times past it worked. It worked because people respected the rules. Now, respect for the rules has gone. It seems it's time to install traffic lights instead. Traffic will be much slower, but that's the price you pay for not respecting the rules.

Something absolutely has to be done to stop these bikes and cars and buses etc disregarding the pedestrian crossing and educating the driving public is of paramount importance but the authorities also need to educate the pedestrians into being totally aware of their surroundings and making an effort to check any oncoming traffic before blindly thinking they are somehow protected and immune to any danger as they meander across the road.
This also goes for the Thai pedestrian habit of walking along the road with the traffic behind them and not learning to walk towards the traffic on the other side of the road when there is no pavement they can use.

They won't stop at the lights either. I've had to dodge vehicles including cops at cross walks with them having red lights and me having a green light

The only way to prevent deaths on crossings is to remove the crossings.

All the crossings do is give the pedestrians a false sense of security.
