Following a meeting yesterday between Thai PM Prayut Chan-o-cha and the Saudi leader, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, both countries have agreed to restore diplomatic ties in the near future. The Bangkok Post reports that Thailand and Saudi Arabia will exchange ambassadors as part of the agreement. Things have been frosty between the two countries since a diplomatic spat over a jewellery theft in 1989. So China and Saudi Arabia "diplomatico-economico-let's not talk about human rights issues" relations seem to be nowadays standard to be part of so-called International community..

Breathtaking understatement. The most valuable items were returned in an official ceremony by the Royal Thai Police. They were immediately identified as fake, making this the biggest "Thai Gem Scam" on record, that is saying something. The real gems that actually did get returned to the Saudis, totaled less than one twentieth of the total crime. Then you have theft, kidnapping, torture and murders. 

I wonder if they haven't returned something, on the hush hush. As the kidnappers of the Saudi businessman, and killers of the embassy personal, will never be prosecuted, I assume the Saudis want something significant.
